😴 Sleep regression?….
A sleep regression is not a regression.
•
It is a short period of time, when your baby needs to nurse more and have more contact with mom to adjust her milk supply to meet a need that is upcoming.
•
Some now call it “a leap”, that we used to refer to as a growth spurt.
•
When your baby starts to nurse more and be awake more, what they’re looking for is more interaction with you, that is going to change whatever it is their body is preparing for.
•
Your supply needs to change.
•
Let them nurse as often as they want, for how ever many days they need (which usually last 3 to 5 days). Even bottle fed babies will exhibit similar behavior.
•
When allowed to do this, the milk supply changes and baby typically will go back to their normal schedule because the change has occurred.
•
This is not to be looked at in a negative way. This is a positive communication between a baby and their mother.
