We saw our first case of influenza A today in our office. Once we see this, there are usually many more to follow. Please remember there are ways to avoid or decrease exposure and severity of flu symptoms:
1. Follow a diet rich in vegetables and fruits.
2. Drink plenty of water.
3. Take Vitamin D3, Vitamin C and a good quality probiotic.
4. Stay away from crowded stores & events during flu season.
5. Get plenty of sleep.
6. Keep your hands away from your face; eyes, nose, mouth especially when in public. Teach your school age children this.
7. Wash your hands frequently.

On Monday, Governor Mike DeWine declared a state of emergency after three Ohioans tested positive for coronavirus. This state of emergency is not a reason to panic. Calling for a state of emergency allows the state to expedite the purchase of supplies and other necessities to address this public health risk.
How do we, individually, and as a community, stay protected and healthy?
Support each other by sharing supplies that may not be available in stores.
Stay hydrated by drinking two to three times more water than you normally do.
Encourage your children to drink extra water.
Get plenty of sleep.
Wash your hands often with soap and water.
Avoid touching your eyes, nose, and mouth with unwashed hands.
Stay home when you are sick! Encourage family members exposed to you to stay home.
Call your medical provider or hospital prior to your arrival if you have a fever so they can prepare for you.
Cover your cough or sneeze with a tissue, then throw the tissue in the trash.
Avoid unnecessary travel, especially for seniors, pregnant women, children and those with chronic illness.
Take Vitamin D3, Vitamin C, probiotics and Omega III’s daily to boost immune system.
Eat more fruits and vegetables and less pre-packaged foods to boost immune system.

We are all in this together. Stay healthy and keep your family healthy!

I had the pleasure of hosting Ohio state representative of the 84th district (which includes Mercer County), Susan Manchester, for lunch in my office today. I spoke to her about HB 177 which will provide better access to medical care and increased quality of care to Ohioans across the state. It was a pleasure spending time with her!
