We recently visited Ballman Elementary School, where 5th graders took part in a creative activity focused on Healthy Screen Time 📱💙

Students worked together on posters that encouraged them to think about how they use technology in their daily lives. Through discussion and creativity, they explored important topics like balancing screen time, staying safe online, and making mindful choices when using devices.

It was great to see their engagement and participation as they worked alongside our Health Sciences Academy at Darby Middle School students.

This initiative continues through the partnership between the School Based Health Center, Darby Middle School, and Arkansas Colleges of Health Education.

We always appreciate the opportunity to connect with students and bring health education into the classroom in a fun and meaningful way 💙

April is Stress Awareness Month, and our Youth Leadership Advisory Council (YLAC) found a fun way to bring this topic to students 💛

We kicked off our “Stress RE-DUCK-TION” campaign. Because reducing stress is important, but doing it with ducks just makes it better 😉

Students wrote messages about stress and healthy coping skills on paper ducks, and got to decorate and style their ducks however they wanted. It was such a fun way to get them thinking, sharing, and opening up about stress.

A few of our students also created posters to help spread the message around the school!

Check out the photos to see all the creativity and messages they came up with 🦆

At YLAC, our Health Science Academy students take real health topics and turn them into something relatable, creative, and engaging for everyone and this was definitely one of those moments 💛

From what’s in medicine cabinets to what shows up in social media feeds, kids are picking up messages and making decisions earlier than most of us realize. Our upcoming sessions dig into va**ng, medications, social influence, and self-image, and what all of this means for the kids we’re trying to support every day.

We’ll be joined by experts from places like the Partnership to End Addiction, Boston Children’s Hospital, Stanford REACH Lab, Truth Initiative, and pediatric medicine who are right in the middle of this work. They’ll break things down in a way that feels real and practical, not overwhelming. Register now: https://loom.ly/lvBuVdM

This past Saturday, we had so much fun at the Family Community Fair at Kimmons Middle School!

We loved getting to chat with families about our School-Based Health Center and sharing ideas for fun, healthy ways to keep kids busy during summer break.

We’re always so grateful for opportunities like this to connect with our community, and to be alongside so many amazing people who care just as much about supporting local families as we do 💙
