We’re just 24 hours away from A Night in the Caribbean! Only a few final touches are left!

Tonight, we are full of gratitude. This year we had enough businesses and organizations who sponsored the event or donated items for our activities at the event that we have NO expenses. This means that ALL of the funds raised tomorrow night will go directly to our Charitable Care Program.

The Charitable Care Program supports things like…
🌴Therapy sessions and evaluations
🌴Arc Memberships for Persons Served
🌴Software for Speech Devices for our patients

Thank you to everyone who is supporting our event this year! We can’t continue our mission without YOU. ❤️

April is Occupational Therapy Month!

Today, we are recognizing Mr. Robert, who truly goes above and beyond to meet each child where they are and help them reach their goals. Mr. Robert is known for racing our kiddos on the scooters, creating engaging activities that make OT fun, and always encouraging fellow staff members.

Thank you, Mr. Robert for all you do! 🩵✨

This year, we will be launching a new game at A Night in the Caribbean!

Kistler Center Bingo will be available at the event and the squares on the Bingo board will be filled with specific areas of donation (Purchase a PT/OT/ST session for a child, Purchase an item from our Amazon Wishlist, Donate $25 to help us purchase a new training TV, Donate $35 to Sponsor an Annual Arc Membership, Commit to a monthly donation to the Kistler Center, etc). After a square has been purchased 10 times it will be blacked out on the board. We'd love to get a Bingo (or two 😉)!

Each time a square is purchased, the purchaser's name will be put into a drawing for a pair of Clear Lensed, Matte Black, Meta Ray Ban Wayfarer Glasses with 32 gb of storage. They are compatible with both Apple and Android devices. The glasses are valued at $379. Features of the glasses include: 12 mp ultra wide camera to capture photos and videos, built in speakers to make calls, listen to music, or ask Meta AI questions, live translation for 6 languages, and more. The glasses have clear lenses and look like normal glasses. On a full charge, the glasses can be used for up to 8 hours. They come with a charging case which provides enough power to charge for up to 48 hours of use on the go! If you're coming to A Night in the Caribbean, make sure you visit the Bingo Board so you don't miss out on the chance to win some awesome wearable tech! 👀👓

Meet Mike Burgess, our co-emcee and auctioneer for A Night in the Caribbean!

Mike is a native of Van Buren whose career has been shaped by service, storytelling, and community leadership. He spent six years in the United States Air Force as a radio and television news anchor and reporter, traveling throughout Europe, Southeast Asia, and North Africa covering America’s involvement in military conflicts. After being honorably discharged in 1994, Mike returned home and began his civilian broadcasting career as a lead weather anchor—first with Fox Television and later with NBC 24/51, then a locally owned NBC affiliate.

In 2000, Mike transitioned from on‑air television into media sales and leadership, where he discovered a passion for helping organizations grow and connect with their communities. He spent seven years in television sales management at ABC 40/29 before moving into his current role as Senior Vice President with iHeartMedia.

Mike’s relationship with The Gregory Kistler Center spans decades. He previously served as Board President from 2000 to 2005 and had the honor of emceeing the very first A Night in the Caribbean, making this year’s event a meaningful full‑circle moment.

Mike and his wife, Shawna, live in Fort Smith and remain deeply committed to supporting organizations that strengthen the River Valley community. They have one daughter, Emmie Burgess, who is currently attending college in Boston.

Thank you, Mike, for serving The Kistler Center. We're excited to have you!

We are thrilled to welcome 5NEWS Daren Bobb back to A Night in the Caribbean as one of our emcees for the evening!

Over the last 42 years, Daren has been a familiar face in the local media. He graduated from the College of Broadcast Journalism at Lewis and Clark College in Godfrey, Illinois and then moved to Fort Smith in 1984 to work in the news department of KTCS radio station. In 1991, Daren joined the news team at KFSM as an executive producer and newsroom manager. In 1998, he began working part time for Clear Channel Radio and in 2002, he became the full time, on - air host for Newstalk 1650 KWHN. In 2006, he transitioned into a career in anchoring at KFSM and he still currently serves as the evening anchor.

Daren has been married to his wife, Christine, since 1985. They live in Tonitown and have two children, Allison and Jake. Daren and Christine are active members of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Tonitown. Daren is a past president of the Community Services Clearinghouse board in Fort Smith, a past president of the Fort Smith Noon Exchange Club, and has served on the boards of the United Way of Fort Smith and the Hamilton House.

Thank you, Daren, for supporting the Kistler Center and serving as one of our emcees!

About 6 weeks ago we shared that two of our kiddos, Holly and Dominic, would be receiving adaptive toy cars through the Go, Baby, Go! Program and a partnership with ACHE.

Yesterday, that project came to life! Holly’s car is the super cute pink Jeep and Dominic’s is the Spider-Man car. Thank you, to ACHE and the Go, Baby, Go! Program for providing this opportunity to our patients. 🩵
