Calming Voice Counseling Services

Calming Voice Counseling Services I am a Licensed Professional Counselor, license # P1210103. I’m an empty nester who's been married for many years.

I have an adult daughter, who is currently teaching me how to be a "Swiftie" and my husband and I are the caregivers of two wonderful dogs - a pomeranian, who had to have a life-saving heart surgery when she was a puppy, and a poodle shih tzu mix. I’m also a proud supporter and ally of the LGBTQIA+ community and believe in equality, inclusion, and human rights.

April is Stress Awareness Month 💚 A gentle reminder to pause, breathe, and take care of your mind. Even small moments of mindfulness can make a big difference.

Mindfulness tips to help with stress-

⭐️Focus on your breathing. Deep breaths can help reduce stress.

⭐️Try the 5-4-3-2-1 method: name 5 things you see, 4 you feel, 3 you hear, 2 you smell, and 1 you taste. This helps interrupt anxious thoughts and refocus your mind.

⭐️Shift from “what if” to “what is”:
When stress comes from worrying about the future, gently bring your focus back to the present. Ask yourself, “What’s actually happening right now?” This helps break the cycle of anxious thinking and keeps you grounded.

💜 Here are some positive affirmations to help you show yourself a little more kindness. ✨

-I am enough, exactly as I am in this moment.
-I am confident in my abilities and believe in myself.
-My feelings are valid and deserve acknowledgment.
-I give myself permission to feel and heal.
-I am allowed to take things one step at a time.
-I deserve understanding, especially from myself.
-I allow myself to rest without guilt.
-I am allowed to have bad days without judging myself.
-Each day is a fresh start, and I embrace it.

“It's okay to take time for yourself. We give so much of ourselves to others and we need to be fueled both physically and mentally. If we are in balance, it helps us in all our interactions.”

💜4 Ways to Reduce Mental Health Stigma💜

1. Educate yourself and others. When we deepen our understanding, our fears begin to fade—and with less fear, we approach others with greater compassion. Recognizing the harmful effects of stigma encourages people to seek help, reduces feelings of isolation, and promotes stronger mental well-being.

2. Check in on the people you love. Sometimes just knowing someone cares is enough to make the weight feel lighter.

3. Normalize therapy and getting help. By openly acknowledging and normalizing therapy, we help reduce stigma and create a culture where asking for help is accepted, supported, and encouraged.

4. Lead with empathy, not judgment. Everyone carries experiences and struggles that may not be visible to others. Choosing empathy means listening with an open mind, showing compassion, and seeking to understand rather than judge.

Caring for yourself can be gentle and intentional. A slow, steady breath. Time outside in fresh air. A mindful pause in the middle of your day. Boundaries that protect your peace. Creativity that lets you express what words sometimes can’t. Small, meaningful moments like these can bring more ease and calm into your everyday life.💛✨

“Many of us have been running all our lives. Practice stopping.”
Thich Nhat Hanh

The season changes, but the demands often don’t. Stress can quietly build over time, and by this point in the year your emotional reserves may feel thinner than you expected.

Try meeting yourself with compassion:
• Loosen one expectation you’ve placed on yourself.
• Speak to yourself the way you would to someone you love.
• Build one moment of rest into your day.

Stopping isn’t falling behind — it’s self-compassion. 💙

Please remember: your worth is not defined by your relationship status. Your healing has its own timeline. Your heart deserves compassion—especially from you.
This Valentine’s Day, widen your definition of love. Love can be tending to your grief. Love can be setting boundaries. Love can be showing up for therapy. Love can be choosing yourself.❤️
If this season feels tender, you don’t have to carry it alone.

"Self-criticism undermines motivation, creating fear of failure, and sapping our confidence. Self-compassion, by contrast, provides the emotional safety we need to keep trying, even when things don't go as planned."
