Heads up! Fort Stewart Hunter Army Airfield continues its series of monthly energy resilience readiness exercises in preparation for the large-scale "Black Start" event scheduled for later this year. The initiative assess backup power generation capabilities, aligning with a congressional mandate requiring the Department of War to test being able to operate with no external power during emergencies. To enhance readiness, the installation conducts these exercises the last Thursday of every month.
The Soldier Recovery Unit- Fort Stewart will be affected by this month's exercise.
Fort Stewart-Hunter Army Airfield is continuing its series of monthly energy resilience readiness exercises in preparation for the large-scale "Black Start" event scheduled for this year. This initiative is designed to assess backup power generation capabilities, aligning with a congressional mandate requiring the Department of War to test its ability to operate without external power during emergencies. To enhance readiness, the installation will conduct these exercises the last Thursday of every month, leading up to the full-scale event.
On January 29, the following circuits will be temporarily impacted for 2-3 hours at both locations. Affected areas include:
- Fort Stewart Circuit 6: Georgia Land Dominance Center HQ, 188th Infantry Brigade HQ, Gates Mendonca (2), Britt (3), and Wright Army Airfield (9), Wright Army Airfield, Holbrook Pond, Evans Army Airfield, Small Arms Ranges, Winn Army Community Hospital Medical Evacuation Helipad, Mission Command Training Center, Soldier Recovery Unit, Southern Oaks Housing area, Murray Elementary School, Georgia National Guard Youth Challenge.
- Hunter Army Airfield Circuit 2: Garrison HQ, Military Police Station, 3rd Combat Aviation Brigade HQ, Flight Simulator, Education Center, U.S. Army Aviation and Missile Command, Georgia Air National Guard, Warriors Restaurant, Marine Corps Reserves Center, Rangers Rigger (1206)
These proactive measures will help ensure the installations remain operationally resilient in the face of extended power outages. Residents and personnel in affected areas are encouraged to plan accordingly, charge essential devices, and prepare for minor disruptions.
