Today we celebrate the life and legacy of Mother M. Angeline Teresa (Bridget Teresa McCrory), born January 21, 1893, in County Tyrone, Ireland.
Mother Angeline is the foundress of the Carmelite Sisters of the Aged and Infirm, which she established in 1929 in the Bronx, New York.
From a young age, she showed a deep love and compassion for the elderly and a profound respect for the sacredness of life—from conception to natural death. She recognized that society often places great emphasis on youth, while older adults are too often overlooked or forgotten.
Mother Angeline believed that the final years of life should be lived with dignity, respect, and purpose. Her vision was to create residences where older adults could maintain independence while receiving dedicated, compassionate care in a warm, homelike atmosphere.
Truly a visionary ahead of her time, Mother Angeline passed away on January 21, 1984, and is on the path toward sainthood.
Thank you, Mother Angeline, for all you did for us here on earth and for all you continue to do for us in Heaven. 🙏
“We can never be too kind to any elderly person in our houses.” -Sister Angeline
