Falsely accused of shoplifting AND given a “no trespass order” instead of an apology...
My friend and I went to CVS, the one on Beal / Green Acres in FWB, to buy some medicine (Lord knows everything else is way too expensive there) on June 8th. We looked at some clothes. I picked out a dress that I’ve only seen at CVS, and we wandered around maybe 10 minutes looking at what the store had to offer. I reaffirmed my opinion that CVS remains too expensive for normal purchases. So we made our purchases and proceeded to leave the store. I don’t like plastic bags, so I told the store clerk I would just place my things in my own bag. She left the hanger on the dress.
Immediately upon exiting the store we were greeted by a slew of police officers, 2 cars and a K-9 I believe. We were informed we were being detained on suspicion of shoplifting. Both my girlfriend and I pulled out our receipts and exclaimed, “ No sir”. We were patted down to make sure that nothing was on our persons, after emptying pockets. Our bags were searched, which normally I would never agree to do since it’s goes against my personal rights and principals.... but I’m having to prove my innocence here, so they got to see the wrappers and papers that live at the bottom. The police also saw that we hadn’t stolen anything. Everything we had from the store was on our receipts.
The officers go inside, presumably looking at cameras and talking to the employee that called them. They even escorted her to her car (so we wouldn’t attack her with all the cops standing there??).
Instead of an apology, we are both issued a “no trespass order”. I’m sorry, but why would CVS insist on issuing us “no trespass orders” when the police proved we were falsely accused of stealing???? I, at least, DID get my prescriptions there. It was the closest pharmacy that took my insurance. I ride a bike, so I needed a close pharmacy. And we had to stand outside in the parking lot, where people saw being detained by police and searched. Humiliating. Not to mention a future business opportunity possibly saw this and doesn’t know the outcome, all they saw was us being in trouble. I’ll never know why they don’t want to do business with me, because they’ll never ask what happened that day, they will just assume I’m a sort of criminal because I was detained and searched by officers outside CVS. This store is at a major intersection and next to a McDonald’s so there was a lot of traffic going by seeing this.
What can I do?? I want an apology from Destiny Lynn Fisher who was the employee who accused us.

On Monday, my friend and I went to the CVS where I get my prescriptions filled, and we came out of the store to be greeted by police officers. I asked them what they wanted. the response was I was being detained on suspicion of shoplifting. I showed my receipt, purchases, and the contents of my bag. So after they officers had proven I did not shoplift anything, do you think I received an apology from the store ?? Absolutely NOT, INSTEAD I got an ORDER OF NO TRESSPASSING to this store. And I get my prescriptions filled here. Why do I get a NO TRESSPASS ORDER after it was proven there was NO shoplifting going on ??? I DESERVE an APOLOGY NOT a NO TRESSPASS order. The supervisor, Debra, I talked to said the employee that called the police was acting according to company protocol. Really ?? It's PROTOCOL to issue a no trespass order after someone accused of shoplifting is proved innocent ??? AM I MISSING SOMETHING ????
