some things break your heart but fix your vision.

i have been to some of the poorest, most forgotten places on this planet. places where people make plates out of mud and s**t just to eat off something. places where families have nothing by the world’s standards. no money, no comfort, no security and yet somehow they still smile, still laugh, still find reasons to be grateful. seeing that changes you. it forces you to question everything you thought mattered.

i have seen what a large caliber round does to a child’s head. i have watched friends slowly disappear through su***de and overdose. i have watched what that kind of loss does to the families left behind the silence it creates, the questions that never get answers, the weight that lingers in every room. i have seen what it does to relationships, and i have seen what it does to myself.

i have even seen my own blood turn on me.

every one of those moments was heartbreaking in its own way. the kind of heartbreak that sits heavy in you and never really leaves. but those same moments stripped away the illusion. they showed me how fragile life really is. they showed me what pain looks like in its rawest form. and they showed me what truly matters.

sometimes the things that break your heart are the same things that sharpen your vision. the pain clears the fog. it forces you to see people for who they are, to appreciate what you still have, and to understand how precious time really is.

i wish clarity didn’t come through heartbreak. but sometimes that’s the price of seeing the world for what it really is.

A Coast Guard rescue swimmer received the Legion of Merit for "extraordinary heroism" after saving 165 lives. The recognition follows a series of daring missions during the intense July 4th flooding in Texas.

Operating in extreme conditions, the swimmer executed dozens of hoist recoveries to pull stranded residents from rising waters. This award highlights the selflessness and skill required to manage such a high-stakes mass rescue operation.
