Here is a photo of upper and lower dentures that will be transformed to conversion prostheses.

The conversion prosthesis has occlusal locks in the molar area. Pre-planning allows the prosthodontist to insert predetermined access holes to ensure accurate and precise placement of dental implants.

A conversion prosthesis technique provides non-removable teeth immediately following surgery. It is used in the Teeth In A Day® dental implant procedure. A conversion prosthesis is a temporary fixed implant-supported prosthesis that converts an area where teeth were missing to non-removable teeth.

The conversion prosthesis is worn by the patient from the day of surgery until the delivery of the final permanent prosthesis.

The occlusal locks are used to keep the denture stable during surgery.

Today is the very first Global Osseointegration Day! May 3rd was chosen to honor Dr. Per-Ingvar Brånemark, the father of modern dental implantology. Today we pay tribute to the man who revolutionized modern dentistry. Without the work of Per-Ingvar Brånemark, osseointegrated dental implants might not exist. Over the years, both Drs. Balshi and Wolfinger, of Pi Dental Center, collaborated on research projects with Dr. Brånemark. Dr. Balshi stated, “Dr. Brånemark has been an inspiration and a mentor to hundreds of dental colleagues and biomedical researchers all over the world.”
