Safety and injury prevention for young children involves making sure children have safe places to grow and learn, protecting children from danger, and teaching children what to do to be safe. When children are safe, they are more likely to be injury-free, focus on learning, and explore new situations with confidence. Use these safety tips for outside play next time you and your child are outside playing.

A recent CDC study shows that babies who received Nirsevimab, an RSV antibody, were less likely to have medical visits or be hospitalized with RSV.

Now is the time to protect your baby from RSV. CDC recommends either a maternal RSV vaccine given to the mother during pregnancy or RSV antibody given to the baby after birth. Talk with your healthcare provider about which option is best for your family.

Fainting (also known as syncope) is common, particularly in teenagers. Though it can be a frightening event, the common faint lasts just seconds and is typically not a sign of a dangerous problem. The bigger concern is avoiding injury during a fall. Knowing the difference between a potentially dangerous faint and the more common, benign faint may seem intimidating, but there are clues that can help guide a family or provider to seek additional help and evaluation. See post for more details!
