We’re excited to share that our executive director, Leslie Friedel, has been nominated for the Foellinger Foundation’s Nonprofit Executive Leadership Award! This award honors leaders who demonstrate adaptive and sustainable leadership—fostering strong staff and board culture, guiding organizations through change, and engaging their communities.
Leslie has been transformational for Stillwater Hospice. Under her leadership, our values of compassion, comfort, inclusivity, guidance, and stewardship were created and are lived out daily in how we care for our patients, their families, and one another. She continues to ensure Stillwater remains responsive to our community’s needs while staying financially strong.

Thanks to the generous support of the Foellinger Foundation’s Barbara Burt Innovative Leader Fund, our board is gaining new strength and insight. Our Board Chair, Derick Bailey, recently attended the National Partnership for Healthcare & Hospice Innovation Leadership Conference in Washington, D.C., where he connected with national thought-leaders and brought back fresh, strategic perspectives.

This investment in leadership development is more than a professional opportunity — it’s a real reflection of our mission. For 137 years, Stillwater Hospice has proudly provided compassion, comfort and guidance to families and individuals throughout our 12-county region of northeast Indiana, and we turn no one away simply because of their means.
