The event the Bird family created and brought to life was truly amazing. The thoughtfulness that JoAnn Bird put into every detail—from the rewards and finisher medals to the race shirts—was something runners genuinely appreciated.
The Veterans Marathon and Heroes 5K became such a meaningful and memorable race for so many. It wasn’t just about running; it was about honoring loved ones who served our country. Many participants ran in memory or in honor of veterans, which made the event incredibly special.
This race holds a very dear place in my heart. I had the opportunity to both participate and help out while honoring my dad, who serves in the Honor Guard alongside Gary Bird.
The Bird family has not only supported our local veterans but has also given so much to our entire community. I am incredibly grateful for this kind, generous family and all they have done to create such a meaningful tradition
