Hello all!

How has your day gone so far?
As we close out World Mental Health Day and month, did you know the history of the amazing health benefits of Iru? I was sooo happy that a good friend of mine from Nigeria gave me some Iru beans last week! I will let you all know soon when my travels will allow me to visit this amazing part of the globe! One of my clinical goals is to bring to my practice evidence-based holistic approaches of food as medicine!

Because the African locust bean is popular among the Yoruba people and is of great importance in Nigeria as they rely on it for treating and healing wounds. Studies have found that these bean compounds reduce oxidative stress. The essential oils of the African locust beans are highly valuable. The little Iru bean from Africa traveled across the seas now brings good health and beauty to the world! Learning about this made it easy for me to name my practice, Ginger & Iru!

Hello everyone!

How have you all been doing? I hope well. Yes, I have my throw shawl on again because once again the season is changing and it has gotten pretty cool, especially these past few nights, right?

Unless you have experienced a winter of "cabin fever" in the far north, you may be surprised to learn that the rhythms of the seasons underlie seasonal affective disorder (SAD), or depression that occurs during the fall and winter months. Almost anyone can get a little depressed when days are short, dark, and cold. But when a person's symptoms are lasting and disabling, the problem may be SAD. With each passing day of these coming months, you may notice yourself or someone else become sadder, anxious, irritable, and socially withdrawn.

If you or someone you know is struggling with SAD symptoms please do not hesitate, reach out and get the help needed to try and feel better! You don't have to go through these next few months feeling 'mentally unstable, off, or weird."

Ginger & Iru, is now accepting new clients. Please contact me at www.giru.online or call 260-580-3734 to schedule an appointment.

Feel better.
