You donโ€™t need experience to begin.
You donโ€™t need a background in birth work or the medical field.
You donโ€™t need to have everything figured out before starting.

What matters most is your heartโ€”
your willingness to be present, to listen, and to support families in their most tender moments.
For many, this work starts with a quiet calling.
A sense that youโ€™re meant to do something moreโ€ฆ something meaningful.
And if youโ€™ve been feeling that, this may be your next step.
Youโ€™ll be guided.
Youโ€™ll be equipped.
You wonโ€™t have to do it alone.

Today is ๐Ÿ•Š๏ธ

A day to remember and honor babies lost to miscarriage, stillbirth, and infant loss.

Even when the world is quiet about this kind of grief,
their lives and their love still matter.

Saying their name is one way we keep their memory alive.

Our babies names are Harper & Anders. ๐Ÿค

If youโ€™d like, you can share your babyโ€™s name in the comments.
We would be honored to say it with you.

Birth is one of the /most powerful and emotional experiences in a familyโ€™s life.

During World Doula Week, we celebrate the impact doulas have on families by providing continuous emotional, physical, and informational support during pregnancy and labor.

Many parents say that having a doula helped them feel calmer, more informed, and more confident throughout the birth process.

Sometimes the greatest gift during labor is simply knowing someone is there to support you.

๐Ÿค Happy World Doula Week to the doulas who support families with compassion and dedication.

Birthwork is ministry.

Iโ€™m a Christian first, a wife and mother second, and a birthworker third. My love for birth began when I was young and grew through the pregnancies and births of my six children.

With Christ at the center of all I do, I see birth as both beautiful and deeply vulnerable. This is why Iโ€™m passionate about equipping doulas and birthworkers to support women physically and spiritually, while honoring birth as God designed it.

After more than a decade as an EMT, I transitioned into birthwork and became certified through ICEA, StillBirthday, and Global Birth Community. My work serving immigrants and refugees led me to found Journey Birth and Wellness, a nonprofit focused on training doulas from within their own communities to better support women and families.

Today, that mission continues through Global Birth Community, where I train doulas across the U.S. and around the worldโ€”including women from 47 countries and counting.

This World Doula Week, I honor the beauty of birthwork and the privilege of walking alongside women in one of lifeโ€™s most sacred seasons.

God calls some birthworkers to serve families not only in birth โ€” but in grief.

Most birthworkers are trained to celebrate lifeโ€™s first cry, the joy of new beginnings, and the beauty of welcoming a baby into the world.

But sometimes, the journey looks different.

Sometimes families walk through loss.

And in those moments, they need someone who can sit with them in the silenceโ€ฆ
someone who understands how to honor their baby, their grief, and their story.

Bereavement care is sacred work.

This Faith-filled Bereavement Training is designed to equip doulas and birthworkers with the knowledge, compassion, and Christ-centered perspective needed to support families experiencing pregnancy and infant loss.

Because when we are prepared, we can serve grieving families with greater confidence, gentleness, and care.

If you feel a tug in your heart to support families even in their most difficult moments, this training may be the next step in your calling.

The concept of doulas is not new.

For centuries, women have supported other women through pregnancy and birth. Long before modern hospitals, mothers were surrounded by experienced women in their communities who provided comfort, reassurance, and guidance during labor.

The modern doula movement gained recognition in the 1970s when research began highlighting the importance of continuous support during labor.

Today, doulas continue this powerful tradition of women supporting women during one of lifeโ€™s most transformative moments.

If youโ€™re considering becoming a doula, you are stepping into a role with deep historical roots.
