March 15–21 is National Poison Prevention Week and we’re turning it into a month of awareness! 🧡

🪴Many common household plants can be toxic to pets, but the ones in this graphic are considered safer options for homes with cats and dogs. That said, even safe plants can still cause tummy upset if eaten so supervision is always key!

Throughout the month of March, we’ll be sharing simple tips to help you keep your pets safe from everyday toxins: from plants to pantry items and everything in between.

Prevention is powerful. A little awareness can make a big difference. 💚

If you ever suspect your pet has ingested something concerning, contact us or the ASPCA Animal Poison Control Center at (888) 426-4435.

Save this post & stay tuned for more safety tips all month long! 🐶🐱

Dental procedures aren’t just “a cleaning”. They’re full anesthetic procedures and we treat them that way. 🦷🐾

Before your pet ever goes under anesthesia, we perform a thorough exam and pre-anesthetic lab work to make sure it’s safe to proceed.

During the procedure, your pet is continuously monitored including EKG (heart rhythm), SpO2 (oxygen levels), blood pressure, respiratory rate, and temperature.

We also take full-mouth dental X-rays on every patient to ensure nothing is hiding below the gum line. Many dental problems happen beneath the surface, and X-rays allow us to detect issues like bone loss, root infections, or fractured teeth that can’t be seen just by looking.

And it’s never just one person. Every dental has a doctor, a registered veterinary technician, and an assistant present and focused on your pet the entire time.

Safety isn’t optional. It’s the standard here. 💙

If you have questions about dental procedures or anesthesia, we’re always happy to talk through them with you.

February is National Pet Dental Health Month! Most cats have initial signs of gum disease by the time they are 3 years old, according to the American Veterinary Medical Association. It can get worse as cats get older and lead to serious health problems without proper treatment.

🦷 What you’re seeing here is just the cleaning portion.

The “before” photo shows heavy tartar covering the teeth and partially hiding what’s happening underneath.

The “after” photo is after the tartar has been removed, which is why you can now see the gum recession and damage that were already there.

Dental cleanings don’t cause recession, they reveal the true health of the teeth and gums once the buildup is gone.

This is exactly why professional dental care with x-rays is so important. Tartar can hide pain, infection, and bone loss that we can’t fully see until it’s cleaned away.

Healthy mouths matter for your pet’s comfort and overall health. Dental disease can lead to other health problems. 🐾💙
