Be on the lookout for genetic testing fraud — a new threat to seniors. Scammers are offering Medicare beneficiaries cheek swabs for genetic testing to get their Medicare information for fraudulent billing purposes or medical identity theft. Often advertised as cancer screenings, DNA tests, or dementia screenings, they'll offer “free” or “at no cost to you” testing without a treating physician’s order — and then bill Medicare.
