2025 Indiana Cemetery Association Fall Conference and Trade Show

Join us for a day you will not forget as guided tours will be conducted throughout the day showcasing the history of Crown Hill Cemetery while visiting the interment sites of some of the many interesting people buried in the cemetery. A variety of monuments, including some of Crown Hills most recognized statues will be included, as well as the view of the downtown
skyline from James Whitcomb Riley’s tomb high atop beautiful Crown Hill.

Soon, the temperatures will moderate, and that means that it is again ICA convention time. Your ICA Board has decided to return to Notre Dame for this one day event that you do not want to miss.

Dear ICA Member,

Last week, the State Board of Funeral and Cemetery Service suspended payments into both the State Guarantee Fund and the Cemetery Maintenance Fund for 2023. The Guarantee Fund now exceeds 2.5M and the Maintenance Fund is in excess of its statutory limit of $500k respectively.

Recently, you should have received the Renewal of Certificate of Authority. Go ahead and submit the form no later than March 1, 2023 but you do not need to include payment on prepaid contracts sold. Remember that you do not need a Certificate of Authority if you are not selling prepaid vaults, opening and closing services, final dates or if you are not installing prepaid memorials/monuments within one year of receiving the final payment. Many of our members only sell interment spaces, niches and mausoleum crypts. If you fall into this category, you are not required to hold a Certificate of Authority.

Dear ICA Member,

On behalf of the ICA Board of Directors, let me wish you a meaningful and successful Memorial Day weekend at your cemetery. It is this weekend that your cemetery is the most beautiful to celebrate and remember all of the souls that rest at your cemetery.

May I suggest you take the time and reward all of those employees that have put forth the hard effort in making your cemetery shine! After all, we do this for the families that have placed their trust in us to give them a peaceful and comforting place to grieve and remember.

It is with sincere regret that the upcoming ICA Convention and Trade Show has been postponed until next year. It is with your health and safety that the ICA Board has made this decision.

I would like to thank Don, Aaron, Amanda, Chris and Mark for putting together a terrific program. For those of you that have submitted your registration and payment, I will return those to you this weekend.

Dear ICA Member,

On behalf of the Board of Directors of the ICA, let me extend to you the very best in preparing your cemetery for the days leading up to Monday, which is perhaps the most important period of time for visitation at your cemetery. While every day is important for remembrance, we know that most of our families pay respect to those who have died this weekend.

While we have come so far since last year, please continue to be careful when you interact with the public. It would be my guess that we will have more activity this weekend because Covid severely limited cemetery visitation last year.

The ICA will be available every day this weekend to answer any questions that you may have. Our number is 260-402-8555. Please call for any reason.
