ADD/ADHD NEWS: BRAIN MAPPING ALLOWS PARENTS TO FIND OUT IF THERE IS A NEUROLOGICAL BASED REASON BEHIND ADD/ADHD SYMPTOMS. DOCTORS NO LONGER HAVE TO GUESS OR HAVE DRUGS AS THEIR ONLY OPTION.
INDIANAPOLIS,IN—Currently the most common method a doctor will recommend to treat attention deficit disorder is with prescription drugs but that may be changing.
These drugs have names such as Ritalin, Adderall, Concerta and Strattera and are primarily either neurostimulant drugs or act by altering neurotransmitters in the brain. These drugs can have a variety of well-documented harmful side effects, including loss of appetite, anxiety, nervousness, psychosis and suicidal thoughts.
The National Institute of Mental Health did a long-term study on ADHD and found, “the long-term efficacy of stimulant medication has NOT been demonstrated for any domain of child functioning.”
Research also states, “Up to 70% of children with ADD/ADHD exhibit symptoms into their adult years, and these symptoms interfere significantly with academic, vocational and social functioning.” A recent study from the University of Cambridge. (2015, August 27) confirms this finding.

There is now a facility right here in Hamilton County that offers hope for ADD/ADHD treatment without taking drugs. (see the special brain map examination at the end of this article)
A recent 2012 study performed by the American Academy of Pediatrics stated that this therapy is on par with the positive symptomatic benefits seen with medications but without the side effects.
This is amazing news for those looking for long-term relief from ADD/ADHD! Drugs are rarely the long-term answer.
Attention deficit disorder is often the result of abnormal brain activity leading to a host of neurobehavioral symptoms such as short attention span, distractibility, poor impulse control, disorganization, procrastination and poor internal supervision. Associated symptoms can include anxiety, depression, and insomnia.
Changes in brain activity can occur for a variety of reasons including environment factors, DNA/Genetic, head trauma, inflammation, autoimmunity, hormonal imbalance and nutritional reactivity. Areas of the brain may become underactive or weaker than other areas leading to the symptoms associated with ADD/ADHD.
Since the brain is an electrochemical organ it makes sense to measure electrical brain wave activity. A QEEG (quantitative electroencephalogram) or Brain Map is a painless test, which involves placing electrodes on the scalp to pick up electrical activity in each lobe of the brain. Once the data has been gathered it is compared to a normative database and a report is developed for the doctor to interpret.

A 21st CENTURY APPROACH: We have developed a unique three-pronged non-drug approach to helping children and adults with ADHD. Our program incorporates Functional Neurology, Functional Nutrition, and Neurofeedback.
In order to effectively address attention deficit disorder three factors must be determined:
1) What is the underlying cause?
2) How much of the brain is being impacted? NOTE: The only way to truly answer this question is to perform a Brain Map.
3) How much care will your condition require?
The help that is provided at Brainworks of Indiana has three main goals:
1) Results by Restoring Healthy Brain Wave Activity
2) Address underlying nutritional imbalances
3) Long-term benefits by strengthening weak brain lobe function
The primary method used to restore healthy brain wave activity is Neurofeedback Therapy, a groundbreaking approach in multi-sensory brainwave therapy. Our unique photic technology guides the brain through EEG-driven auditory and visual feedback. Many studies demonstrate the effectiveness of this type of training.
As a matter of fact, in a 2012 report, the American Association of Pediatrics clearly recognized the power of Neurofeedback as a Level 1 (Best Support Intervention). They rate Neurofeedback therapy at the same level as medication.

Another study compared medication only to a Neurofeedback group and medication group. The results demonstrated that six months after discontinuing therapy only the Neurofeedback group showed sustained improvements, the medication only group, did not.
Neurofeedback is like exercise for the brain. Over time a stronger more balanced brain is reflected in more socially appropriate behavior and capacity to stay on task. Studies show that Neurofeedback training benefits last 30 years or longer and may even increase IQ by 10-12 points.
We have a high success rate in our office. That means many of our patients no longer need medication, have the ability to focus when they want as long as they want, and truly feel like they have reclaimed their life. Neurofeedback creates permanent changes in the brain at the cellular level.
Neurofeedback is safe, does not involve electrical shock, and doesn't change ethics/morals/personality. Just like training for any other skill, Neurofeedback, helps one realize their true potential.
Current psychology and/or medical testing only involve interviewing the patient/parents and completing questionnaires, at most. They do not have an objective test to measure brain function.
QEEG (Brain Mapping) measures the electrical activity of each brain lobe and compares that activity to a normative database. Combine this with functional neurologic testing and you can create an objective electrical “image” of the brain.

We will explain the findings of functional neurologic testing on subsequent first visit. This will give you insight into how he may be able to help.
Why is functional neurology important?
Because Cognitive/Emotional Skills are built upon motor skills. In other words, the brain develops in a very specific order. If this order is disrupted in any way it can show up as ADD/ADHD.
Call 317-688-7303 today to schedule your initial visit with Our Office and receive a brain mapping for $90 (normally $250.00) after taking the free online cognitive test to qualify. We have limited spaces available for these maps. If you are interested we encourage you to call the office for more information. You can also check us out at 👇

The length of the care program needed varies from person to person and can only be determined after a detailed Brain Map. Insurance does not cover this advanced type of brain rehabilitation, but we do offer affordable payment plans.
Dr. David B Chalfant DC , owner of the Brainworks of Indiana, has over 1000 postgraduate hours in neurology and has focused on functional neurologic conditions for the past 40 years, he is a graduate of the American Functional Neurology Institute, and a board eligible Chiropractic Neurologist. We will perform a brain map and determine the extent of the imbalances in the brain for only $90 (our normal fee is a low $250, other clinics charge $400+ for a brain map).
This introductory examination will consist of a detailed history and review of the brain map.
Dr. Chalfant will be offering this examination from now until August 21,2020 or until the brain mapping spots are filled.
Sign up on line for a FREE cognitive test to qualify for a 90.00 brain map normally (250.00) with our office to determine if you or your child can be helped with our program. We accept children as young as 5 years .
