Have you ever wondered how cataracts affect your sight compared to normal vision?

With normal vision, the lens of your eye is clear, allowing light to pass through easily so you can see sharp details, vibrant colors, and bright contrast.

But with cataracts, the lens becomes cloudy—like looking through a foggy window. This clouding causes blurred or hazy vision, faded colors, and increased sensitivity to glare.

The good news? Cataracts are treatable. At Ophthalmology Consultants of Fort Wayne (OPHC), our specialists provide advanced cataract treatment options tailored to your needs—so you can get back to seeing the world clearly.

Anti-reflective (AR) coatings on glasses do more than look cool — they make a real difference for your vision. AR lenses reduce glare from lights, screens, and the sun. They also improve eye comfort and reduce squinting, headaches, and distractions caused by reflections. For people who spend lots of time on screens, AR glasses can be a game-changer. Ask us about adding AR coatings to your lenses at your next appointment!

Glasses vs. Contacts – Which is Right for You?

Both glasses and contact lenses can correct your vision, but they offer different benefits depending on your lifestyle and needs:

Glasses are low-maintenance, stylish, and can protect your eyes from dust, wind, and even harmful blue light. They’re also easier to clean and less likely to irritate sensitive eyes.

Contacts give you clear, natural vision without frames and are great for active lifestyles. They’re comfortable to wear all day, and you won’t have to worry about fogging or slipping during sports or outdoor activities.

At Ophthalmology Consultants of Fort Wayne (OPHC), we’ll help you choose the best option for your eyes and lifestyle.

Your eyes deserve regular care—just like the rest of your health. The frequency of your eye exams depends on your age, risk factors, and vision needs:

- Children: First exam at 6–12 months, again at age 3, before school, and then every 1–2 years.
- Adults (18–64): Every 2 years if you have healthy vision, but yearly if you wear glasses/contacts or have risk factors like diabetes.
- Adults 65+: Annually, as age-related eye diseases (like cataracts, glaucoma, and AMD) become more common.

At Ophthalmology Consultants of Fort Wayne, we provide personalized eye care to help you maintain healthy vision at every stage of life.

Don’t wait until there’s a problem—schedule your next eye exam today!
