Congratulations to Asia Wells who just successfully passed her Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) Exam. Asia was very excited about this accomplishment, and her next goal is to become a Qualified Medication Aide (QMA). We hope to help Asia with this goal and wish her all the best in her CNA work. We held a special event for Veterans' Day to honor our residents who served in the military. The ceremony, attended by many, aimed to express gratitude to these dedicated individuals. It was a heartwarming occasion where residents came together to appreciate the selfless service of our veterans. Happy Veterans' Day to all!

Meet Tanda! Tanda came to us for short-term rehab after a fall at home. She was weak and unable to stand without help. She made good progress in therapy and improved in her strength and endurance. She is now able to walk 150 feet using her rollator and is able to ascend/descend stairs! Fun fact: Tanda is known for her wonderful spaghetti! Thank you for moving forward with us, Tanda!

Meet Goldie! Goldie was with us a couple of years ago for a therapy stay and wanted to return as she had a good experience. She worked hard in therapy to regain strength in her legs, improve balance, and she is now able to walk more than 300 feet using her rollator.

Goldie worked as a CNA for more than 20 years in Florida, and she has nothing but appreciation for the therapists and staff at Heritage Park. She thanks everyone for making her feel so welcome and for getting her up on her feet again!

Staff and residents showed their team spirit on Jersey Day, donning their favorite team jerseys across football, baseball, hockey, and several other sports. It's always fun to see which teams our residents and co-workers support, even though it came with some friendly ribbing between rival fans!

We are celebrating Mike Kaehr as our Resident of the Month!
You will often see Mike strolling the halls at HP; he enjoys the exercise and getting out of his room for a change of scenery. He also enjoys watching TV, following football, keeping up with the news, and occasionally joining some activities, his favorite being playing cards with other residents - he loves playing euchre!
Mike grew up in Fort Wayne and has a daughter and four grandchildren here in the area.
He graduated from Purdue University at Lafayette and remembers fondly spending weekends at the lake with his brothers during that time. Later, he owned and ran a local restaurant. Mike also had his pilot's license and enjoyed flying whenever he could. His longest trip flying was to Bull Shoals, Arkansas on a fishing trip with his brother.
Fun Fact: Mike’s favorite ice cream is Edy’s Double Fudge Brownie.

Congratulations Melanie Clibon, RN/Weekend Supervisor, our Quest for Excellence winner for 2025! We are looking forward to honoring this year's outstanding Quest Winners at the banquet on November 13 at the Marriott in Indianapolis.

Heritage Park is delighted to announce Melanie Clibon, RN, Weekend Supervisor, as our 2025 Quest for Excellence recipient. Mel has been demonstrating our CARE values long before we even began using the acronym.

Becoming a CNA was the foundation Mel chose to begin her journey in healthcare. While Heritage Park was not where her journey started, we can thank a competitor for not accommodating her school schedule as she pursued her nursing degree. Mel went on to earn her BSN, and during her 20+ years at Heritage Park, she has overseen many facets of nursing, including roles as Charge Nurse, Wound Nurse, ADNS, and DNS.In addition, when asked to become a CNA and QMA instructor, she readily agreed. Mel’s contributions to the success of Heritage Park are immeasurable.

Having someone like Mel on the team is a godsend. She is always up for a challenge, ready to address issues, and committed to finding solutions. And when asked to portray the Statue of Liberty in our Flag Day parade, she did so willingly, with spirit and humor! In her current role as weekend supervisor, she is dependable, personable, and respectful of all she encounters.

In her spare time, Mel enjoys spending time with her family and any outdoor activities such as camping, hiking, and kayaking.

Mel’s quote for us is, “Investing in yourself can be an amazing gift to others.” She certainly lives this out at Heritage Park, and both our residents and staff benefit from her dedication every day.

Heritage Park Assisted Living & Garden Homes is proud to announce AJ Glenn as our Quest for Excellence winner for 2025! AJ has been a CNA in our Healthcare department for one year. He is know for his proactive approach with patient care and humble personality in demonstrating our CARE values that serve as our guiding principles at ASC.

Within a short amount of time, AJ has shown tremendous growth and perseverance in his work. He treats everyone with kindness and respect, and the residents are always happy when they see him in our assisted living. Resident care requires a balanced approach with each resident having individual and specific needs. AJ manages to ensure everyone feels special and greets them with an award-winning smile.

AJ’s compassionate nature spills into his home life where he has the proud father of 9-month-old Vivienne. If you’re in need of a smile just ask AJ to see a couple of the thousands of photos he’s recently taken of his baby girl!

AJ has a quiet, calming presence about him and the ability to make everyone feel safe and relaxed. He leads more by example than words, providing conscientious service every day. The residents, their families, and his teammates know that when AJ is on the job, everything will go right.

It was a full Halloween Bash at Heritage Park Friday, featuring Halloween music and karaoke with "special guest DJ" Dr. Frankenstein, spooky snacks - including witch's hat cookies, broomstick cheese and pretzels, and ghoulish gurgling punch - and a costume contest for our staff. The party was fun for all in attendance.
