Recovery Resource Council

Recovery Resource Council Our Mission: To promote wellness and recovery from disorders relating to alcohol, substance use, trauma, and mental health.

Recovery Resource Council has been a cornerstone of North Texas since 1946, evolving from a small committee focused on alcoholism education to one of the region’s largest nonprofit mental and behavioral healthcare providers. We have expanded our services to include substance use disorder treatment, mental health services, and support for veterans and the chronically homeless. As a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, our mission is to promote wellness and recovery from disorders relating to alcohol, substance use, trauma, and mental health. The Council continues to be a beacon of hope, dedicated to helping individuals and families by providing comprehensive care both in person at our three campus locations and online via telemental health.

Please join us in celebrating Devyn Futrell, our 2025 Employee of the Year! 🎉

Since joining the Council in 2019, Devyn has become someone our clients and team can truly count on — a steady, compassionate presence who shows up with heart every single day.

As a member of our Overdose Response Team, she meets individuals and families in some of their hardest moments, offering support, connection, and hope. Through post-overdose follow-ups and client-centered case management across five North Texas counties, Devyn helps people take meaningful next steps toward recovery. 💙

While continuing to serve with dedication and care, she earned both her bachelor’s and master’s degrees in Social Work — strengthening the expertise she brings to every client interaction. 🎓

Devyn embodies our mission in action, and we are so proud to celebrate her as our Employee of the Year. 👏

RRC is excited to partner with Kennedale High School to launch new support groups this spring! Led by our Youth Prevention Specialist, Derrick Rybka, the 12-week program creates space for students who need extra connection, support, and skill-building. 📚

Kennedale High School has partnered with the Resource Recovery Council of Fort Worth to provide two, small support groups for boys during lunches on Wednesdays for the next 12 weeks. Derrick Rybka, Prevention Specialist, will facilitate the Boys Lunch Bunch support groups using Teen Connection, a Curriculum-Based Support Group program. Mr. Rybka is a graduate of Tarleton State University and has served the RRC for 7 years. Mr. Rybka has led small support groups at DAEP and the Wildcat Success Center for the past two years.

There will be two Boys Lunch Bunch Groups: A Lunch Bunch and B Lunch Bunch. Each group will serve 6-8 male students who have academic, attendance, behavioral, or socio-emotional needs. The Kennedale High School Community in Schools (CIS) program has a Co-Ed Lunch Bunch on Tuesdays and a Girls Lunch Bunch on Thursdays.

🎉 We’re excited to announce that the Council has been awarded $4.9 million from the VA as part of nearly $45 million invested statewide to prevent and end Veteran homelessness. This award strengthens our Supportive Services for Veteran Families (SSVF) program and positions us to reach more Veterans than ever before.

🏠 SSVF helps Veterans find—and keep—stable housing through homelessness prevention, rapid rehousing, and individualized case management. In addition to our long-standing service area in North Texas, our team will now support Veterans and their families across West Texas and the Panhandle, including rural communities where housing resources are limited. 📍

We’re grateful for this partnership with the VA and look forward to serving hundreds more Veterans with the stability, care, and support they deserve in the year ahead.

For this winter's , meet the Council’s Youth Prevention Specialist, Jessica Rivera! 💙 For more than seven years, she has been a trusted presence in schools and community programs across DFW—helping youth build the confidence, coping skills, and decision-making tools they need to heal and thrive. 🌱

Jessica holds a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice and is certified as an Associate Prevention Specialist. Before joining the Council, she worked as a juvenile case manager, supporting adolescents facing substance use challenges—an experience that shaped her passion for early prevention.

Today, Jessica facilitates the LifeSkills Training curriculum and coordinates Positive Alternatives programming, supporting youth through hands-on activities that promote healthy choices and personal growth. Because she returns to the same campuses year after year, students come to know her as a safe and familiar presence, someone who listens, shows up, and believes in their potential. She also delivers prevention education through community presentations and health and wellness camps, supporting at-risk youth beyond the classroom.

Her motivation for this work is deeply personal; 💬 “I grew up in a part of town where drug use and poverty were seen daily,” Jessica shared. “I knew I wanted to make a difference in kids’ lives and help break generational cycles.”

For Jessica, the greatest reward is watching students transform—learning how to manage emotions, handle peer pressure, and begin to see a future for themselves. “Being a positive role model and that ‘safe person,’ especially for youth who don’t always have one, that’s what makes this work so meaningful,” she shared.

Through her consistency, compassion, and commitment to prevention, Jessica impacts hundreds of youth each year, helping ensure that students not only succeed in school, but carry healthy skills and hopeful perspectives into adulthood. ✨
