I watched a video about this phenomenon recently. Apparently someone who is very depressed can experience an improvement in their mood in the days before they have planned to end their life, as they know their pain will be over soon. Just goes to show that sometimes depression wears a smile and we shouldn't assume we don't need to check in on someone because their mental illness has seemingly gone into remission.

Less than 36 hours before his passing, Talinda Bennington shared footage of her husband, Chester Bennington, the lead vocalist of Linkin Park, laughing and enjoying time with his family. The video showed a joyful moment that starkly contrasted the tragedy that soon followed.

It's "just" anxiety.

Yeah, it's "just" my guts twisting in knots.
It's "just" the constant feeling that something is about to go terribly wrong.
It's "just" worrying about everything and everyone in my life, constantly.
It's "just" something that makes me wonder if I can live the rest of my life like this.
It's "just" tension headaches and tight muscles and hyperventilation.

It's "just" controlling my life.

There's this thing called the HALT method that I find helpful when my anxiety unexpectedly kicks up and I can't identify what triggered it. I ask myself:
Are you Hungry?
Are you Angry?
Are you Lonely?
Are you Tired?
Sometimes you just have a basic need that needs to be met. If you've ever played The Sims, you know that they get in a bad mood if one of their needs gets low. We're the same way.

Food and rest are great healers.
