We LOVE this wonderful letter from a woman who struggled with incontinence for decades. Enter Dr. Lira Chowdhury and the Bulkamid procedure! "I first began having a variety of UTI problems in my mid-20’s, compounded by incontinence in my early 30’s. I had my first surgery for incontinence at that time. It was "successful" for about a year, after a very painful and difficult recovery. Then I began being incontinent again, which gradually got worse and worse. In my early 40’s, it was recommended that I have another surgery, using a different procedure. It was even less effective, so I gave up. Finally, last fall, at 69, I had been totally incontinent for at least five years. I reluctantly decided to see if there was anything that would help on the horizon. Dr. Chowdhury did a thorough testing of my urinary tract and told me she felt sure there was help for me in the form of the Bulkamid procedure. Well, it has been life-changing!
"Incontinence is no longer an issue. I wear only a liner for the very, very rare occasion I have a slight dribble from ignoring my bladder signals and relieving myself. The recovery was not difficult at all. I do self-catheter twice a day, but that is not painful or difficult...it takes a little practice, and now it’s just part of my routine, like brushing teeth, etc. I highly recommend Dr. Chowdhury and this procedure if you’re having the same problem. I believe I was a pretty extreme case going in, and now I can testify to its effectiveness."
