Here’s the truth: the holiday season isn’t about doing everything perfectly. It’s about intentionally creating space for yourself even amid the chaos.

It might look like:

💙 Saying no without guilt
💙 Setting boundaries for events or social media
💙 Taking a quiet walk or enjoying a warm cup of tea
💙 Letting yourself rest when your body or mind needs it

These aren’t indulgences. They’re acts of resilience!

(Ways of reminding your brain and body that it’s okay to pause & protect your energy — even when life gets busy.)

Enjoy this season, but remember to honor your limits. 🤍

Colder weather is approaching (slowly, but surely)! ❄️

And our nervous systems tend to freak out a little at the beginning of the winter season.

➡️ Shorter days mean less sunlight, which can reduce serotonin & melatonin regulation. This imbalance can leave you feeling fatigued, moody, or anxious.

➡️ Cold weather triggers your body’s stress response, activating the sympathetic nervous system (aka “fight or flight” mode) to keep you warm & alert.

Over time, prolonged activation of this system can lead to tension, irritability, difficulty sleeping & heightened stress.

So, make time to take care of your nervous system this winter. In turn, you'll feel calmer & happier, even when the sun sets at 5:00!

Tell us, what feel-good moments will you be adding to your schedule this week? 💬

Do you know what survival mode is? ⤵️

Survival mode is your brain and body’s natural response to prolonged stress — it helps you cope in the moment, but keeps you on high alert. ⚠️

While it can be useful in the short term, staying in survival mode for too long can leave you feeling drained, anxious, disconnected, or stuck in a cycle of constant worry. (No, thank you!)

To get out of survival mode, start by...

💙 Slowing down. Block out time for some proper R&R.

💙 Setting boundaries. Learn to say no & protect your energy.

💙 Prioritizing self-care. Find out what fills your cup & add it to your routine!

💙 Checking in with your emotions. Notice what your triggers might be & how you can manage them.

💙 Seeking support: Talking with a therapist can provide guidance, perspective & tools to move forward.

Serotonin is a key neurotransmitter that influences mood, sleep, appetite & overall emotional well-being.

When it's in balance, it can help ⤵️

👉 Reduce anxiety
👉 Improve focus
👉 Promote a sense of calm & happiness

Low serotonin, on the other hand, can contribute to feelings of sadness, irritability, or difficulty managing stress.

In fact, the most common antidepressant medications actually work because they increase serotonin levels in the brain! 🧠

Supporting serotonin is about creating a routine that nurtures both your mind & body. Start with just one or two of the habits in this post & notice how you start to feel!

As the holiday season approaches, remember to practice self-love. 🤍

Grief, stress, loneliness, or simply feeling “off” this time of year is more common than you might think. ⤵️

The pressure to feel festive can be overwhelming (especially when life behind the scenes feels anything but light). But you don’t have to force holiday cheer or pretend everything’s fine.

It’s okay to slow down. To protect your peace. To make space for whatever feelings show up — especially the hard ones.

And if you need extra support this season, we’re here to support you.

Because giving to others starts with caring for yourself. 💙

While they're often used interchangeably, panic attacks & anxiety attacks are *not* the same. ⤵️

➡️ Anxiety attacks usually build gradually in response to stress or worry. You might feel overwhelmed, restless, tense, or have trouble concentrating — and while the symptoms can be intense, they’re often tied to specific triggers.

➡️ Panic attacks, on the other hand, tend to come on suddenly and feel more severe. You might experience chest pain, a racing heart, shortness of breath, dizziness, or even feel like you’re losing control — sometimes with no clear trigger at all.

Both are real. Both are valid. And both deserve care & support.

Therapy can help you understand what’s happening in these situations. During appointments, you can...

1️⃣ Find out what's going on in your mind & body,
2️⃣ Learn to identify your unique triggers, and
3️⃣ Practice calming techniques that'll really work.

Let’s find the tools that work for you! Schedule an appointment at fortwellness.com! 🌐

Settling down before bed is a key part of supporting your mental health and emotional well-being. 🌙

When you take time to slow down & reset before hitting the hay, you're signaling to your body & brain that it's safe to let go of the day.

Here's why this matters: when your mind is racing or your nervous system is still activated, falling (and staying) asleep becomes much harder. And poor sleep? It affects everything — your mood, focus, energy, patience, and overall resilience.

Incorporating small calming practices before bed can:

👉 Help you fall asleep faster

👉 Strengthen emotional regulation

👉 Improve sleep quality & duration

👉 Reduce nighttime anxiety & overthinking

👉 Support your body’s natural recovery & reset process

Even just one or two intentional practices can create powerful change for the long term!

Save this post so you have the reminder at night!! 📩

Therapy is all about understanding yourself on a deeper level. 🤍

When you build self-awareness, you start:

➡️ Recognizing patterns
➡️ Setting healthier boundaries
➡️ Showing up more fully in your own life

Essentially, that internal growth is the foundation for lasting change. ✨

Social anxiety is generally misunderstood as just a fear of public speaking — but it's *much* deeper than that. ⤵️

👉 Fear of saying the “wrong” thing.
👉 Constant self-monitoring in conversations.
👉 Overthinking after even the smallest interactions.
👉 Avoiding group settings out of fear of being judged, embarrassed, or rejected.

Social anxiety is a persistent, overwhelming worry about how you’re being perceived — and it can affect friendships, work, dating, and daily life.

The good news? ➡️ It's highly treatable.

Therapy can help you understand the roots of your anxiety, challenge unhelpful thought patterns, and build confidence in social situations — at your pace. 🤍
