Anxiety doesn’t come out of nowhere — it’s often intensified by habits and patterns we don’t even realize we’re stuck in.

Here's how you can manage your anxious feelings more effectively:

✔️ Build simple routines that give your nervous system a sense of safety.

✔️ Say no to unnecessary commitments and create space between you and draining situations.

✔️ Regulate your nervous system by going on a short walk, stretching, or slowly breathing.

✔️ Put words to your anxiety (“I feel overwhelmed” or “I’m anticipating something hard”) instead of suppressing it.

✔️ Talk to someone you trust when anxiety starts interfering with your sleep, focus, or daily life.

If anxiety feels like it’s running the show, therapy can help you understand its roots and build strategies that actually work for you. Schedule an appointment at fortwellness.com!

January is Mental Wellness Month — a reminder that your mental health deserves just as much care as your physical health.

These statistics from Mental Health America are alarming. Because self-care shouldn't just be acknowledged, it should be practiced.

This year, let's not complicate things. Your self-care habits can look like:

👉 Asking for support before burnout hits
👉 Prioritizing rest, sleep, and nourishment
👉 Checking in with your emotions regularly
👉 Setting realistic routines instead of rigid goals
👉 Protecting your time and energy with clear boundaries

And when self-care feels challenging to maintain on your own, therapy can provide support. It gives you the tools, accountability, and a safe space you need to understand yourself and your mind better. 🤍

The start of a new year is a natural pause point — a chance to slow down, reassess, and choose support over survival mode. And if you've been needing a little break, now's the perfect time. 🤍

Here are some simple ways to reset this week:

➡️ Ask for help when you need it.

➡️ Design your days to support your nervous system, not overwhelm it.

➡️ Actually rest. It’s a requirement for your mental and emotional health.

➡️ Protect your time and energy so you can show up fully — without resentment or burnout.

And if your feelings of burnout feel deeper than a quick reset can fix, therapy can help you unpack what’s draining you and build sustainable ways to feel better for the long term.

A new year often comes with resolutions, goals & a fresh sense of possibility. ✨

But real, lasting growth doesn’t start with changing habits or longer to-do lists — it starts from within.

It starts with understanding yourself, processing emotions, and building the right tools to battle life’s toughest trials.

Therapy provides a supportive space to:

➡️ Reflect on what truly matters to you
➡️ Identify the patterns holding you back
➡️ Strengthen your relationships (with yourself & others)
➡️ Build coping strategies for stress, anxiety, or difficult decisions

Starting the year with self-awareness & intentional growth sets the stage for change that lasts beyond January.

Here’s the truth: the holiday season isn’t about doing everything perfectly. It’s about intentionally creating space for yourself even amid the chaos.

It might look like:

💙 Saying no without guilt
💙 Setting boundaries for events or social media
💙 Taking a quiet walk or enjoying a warm cup of tea
💙 Letting yourself rest when your body or mind needs it

These aren’t indulgences. They’re acts of resilience!

(Ways of reminding your brain and body that it’s okay to pause & protect your energy — even when life gets busy.)

Enjoy this season, but remember to honor your limits. 🤍

Colder weather is approaching (slowly, but surely)! ❄️

And our nervous systems tend to freak out a little at the beginning of the winter season.

➡️ Shorter days mean less sunlight, which can reduce serotonin & melatonin regulation. This imbalance can leave you feeling fatigued, moody, or anxious.

➡️ Cold weather triggers your body’s stress response, activating the sympathetic nervous system (aka “fight or flight” mode) to keep you warm & alert.

Over time, prolonged activation of this system can lead to tension, irritability, difficulty sleeping & heightened stress.

So, make time to take care of your nervous system this winter. In turn, you'll feel calmer & happier, even when the sun sets at 5:00!

Tell us, what feel-good moments will you be adding to your schedule this week? 💬

Do you know what survival mode is? ⤵️

Survival mode is your brain and body’s natural response to prolonged stress — it helps you cope in the moment, but keeps you on high alert. ⚠️

While it can be useful in the short term, staying in survival mode for too long can leave you feeling drained, anxious, disconnected, or stuck in a cycle of constant worry. (No, thank you!)

To get out of survival mode, start by...

💙 Slowing down. Block out time for some proper R&R.

💙 Setting boundaries. Learn to say no & protect your energy.

💙 Prioritizing self-care. Find out what fills your cup & add it to your routine!

💙 Checking in with your emotions. Notice what your triggers might be & how you can manage them.

💙 Seeking support: Talking with a therapist can provide guidance, perspective & tools to move forward.
