As a clinical psychologist who specializes in working with the neurodiverse population (with Autism and AdHd) and daughter of an undiagnosed father, I am grateful to come along children and adults to help with diagnosis and copping strategies to help them thrive in a world full of neurotypicals who communicate and see the world differently. Every person (young and old) and family I work with was/is relieved to finally understand their brain is wired unique differently with strengths and giftings we the neurotypical can only covet. Yes they social, communication and other challenges. Some subtle and others profound. Neurospicy people are a critical part of our world, they are trailblazers, outside the box thinkers and compassionate people who have been misunderstand for generations. You would be amazed at how many amazing people in history and your world who were never diagnosed. I can imagine how my father would have parented differently if he had some social skill, relationship and parenting skills training. We have come a long way understanding brain wiring and providing resources to help people thrive, let’s stay compassionate and continue to support our neurodiverse community.
