With profound sadness, Dallas Fort Worth International Airport mourns the loss of DFW Airport Police Sgt. Charles “Alan” Works.
Sgt. Works passed away after suffering a medical emergency while serving our airport community. A dedicated public servant and trusted leader, he served with integrity, humility, and deep care for those around him.
Those who worked alongside Sgt. Works remember his steady presence, welcoming smile, and the cowboy hat he was known for. His commitment to professionalism and compassion will leave a lasting impact on our police department, the airport as a whole and the community he served.
Sgt. Works started his law enforcement career in 2007 with the Denton County Sheriff’s Office as a detention officer. He served as a police officer with Tarrant County College Police Department from 2013 to 2020 before joining the DFW Airport Police Department in 2020. In August 2022, he was promoted to sergeant, a role in which he quickly earned the respect of those he led and worked alongside. Sergeant Works received a Certificate of Merit in 2023 for exemplary service and served as a Field Training Officer and as a member of the Police Honor Guard.
Our thoughts and prayers are with his family, friends, and fellow officers during this difficult time.
