As we step into a new year, here are a few gentle reminders for you, mama!

Because raising tiny humans is big work — and you deserve just as much compassion as you give.

This year, here are some small (but impactful) habits to instil in your routine:

✅ Offer yourself grace
✅ Celebrate the small wins
✅ Set realistic expectations
✅ Prioritize connection over perfection

Send this to a fellow mama & follow for more parenting support! 🤍

There are a few important skills your little one needs to build before they’re ready to balance on their own.

Here’s what helps your baby get up & moving:

👉 Supported sitting to learn balance
👉 Rolling practice to build coordination
👉 Floor play that lets them move freely & explore
👉 Lots of tummy time to strengthen the neck & core
👉 Reaching & grabbing to wake up those trunk muscles

All of these tiny pieces add up to help your kiddo sit up on their own — which is a vital building block for even more milestones later on.

Reading to your little one isn’t just sweet cuddle time — it’s a powerful way to boost their vocabulary. 📚

In fact, research shared by the Child Mind Institute has found that young children whose parents read to them daily have been exposed to at least 290,000 more words by the time they enter kindergarten than kids who aren’t read to regularly.

But how? 👉 Picture books use more complex, rich language than everyday speech, exposing children to a wider range of words than they might hear otherwise.

So, when you read aloud — even just a few minutes a day — remember that you’re building the foundation for your little one's success! 💛

Mixing up the types of play for your little one is crucial for supporting their overall development — different activities build different skills in the brain and body! 🏃‍♂️

Here are the 6 types of play to focus on:

👉 Puzzle play
👉 Pretend play – dress-up, role play
👉 Sensory play – sand, water, textures
👉 Construction play – building & creating
👉 Gross motor – running, climbing, jumping
👉 Fine motor – stacking, drawing, picking up small objects

And swipe ➡️ for the highlights of each one!

The more variety, the more opportunities they have to grow — and the more fun they’ll have along the way! ✨

Here’s your gentle reminder that the best gifts aren’t the fanciest ones — they’re the ones that support your child’s development during their biggest growth years. ✨

In these early stages, kids learn through movement, exploring, problem-solving & play. And the right toys can help build skills they’ll use for everything!

So, as you're shopping this holiday season, I recommend picking out:

✔️ Cause & effect toys — pop-up toys, ball ramps, drop boxes
✔️ Fine motor toys — stacking cups, blocks, puzzles, pegboards
✔️ Language-building toys — books, puppets, simple animal sets
✔️ Pretend play toys — play kitchens, tool sets, baby dolls, dress-up
✔️ Sensory toys — textured balls, playdough, water mats, silicone fidgets
✔️ Gross motor toys — push toys, ride-on toys, soft climbing sets, tunnels

Picking out a variety of toys will strengthen your little one's coordination, problem-solving, hand skills, imagination & confidence. ❤️

Send this to a fellow mama who could use some holiday gift inspiration! 🎁

Moving from single words to two-word combos is a big step in early language development — and it doesn’t have to be complicated.

Here’s how to support this next stage:

👉 Model short combos for them to copy
👉 Keep it simple by using words they hear often
👉 Have fun with it! (The more fun you have, the more fun they'll have!)

What's your little one's favorite word right now? 💬

Before walking, running & climbing… crawling builds the skills that make all of that possible.

It strengthens the core, develops coordination, and even supports visual & brain development (yep, crawling works both sides of the brain together!).

If your baby isn’t quite crawling yet — or is just getting started — here’s how you can help:

✨ More play time on the floor
✨ Place toys just out of reach to spark motivation
✨ Tummy time every day — even short bursts add up
✨ Use tunnels, cushions, or your own legs as mini obstacle courses

And if you think your kiddo is late to crawling, reach out! Our team can work with you to develop those key milestones!
