Chisholm Trail Oral Surgery Chisholm Trail Oral Surgery is a privately owned Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery practice in Fort Worth

Dr. Craig Harrison is an Oral & Maxillofacial Surgeon with a special interest in dental implants, bone grafting, facial trauma, orthognathic surgery, and wisdom teeth. His personal mission is to provide exceptional, thoughtful, and personalized care with the same level of dedication that he would provide to his own family. In order to do this, Dr. Harrison started his own practice in Fort Worth, c

onsidering it a privilege to take care of the community in which he now lives. From a young age, he had a special interest in healthcare, having watched his grandfather (a General Dentist) and his father (a Plastic Surgeon) practice in their respective fields. As a child, he lived abroad in Nigeria for two years while his parents were engaged in medical missions, an experience that left a lasting impression on his desire to help others. After completing his undergraduate studies at Texas A&M University in College Station, he attended the University of Texas Health San Antonio School of Dentistry. He excelled and became inspired to pursue a residency in Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery after witnessing the significant impact their services could provide for patients. Dr. Harrison then completed a residency in Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery at Texas A&M Dental School. As part of his residency training, he earned his MD at Texas Tech School of Medicine in Lubbock. During this time, he met and married his wife Catherine, who is a nurse. Outside of work, he enjoys traveling with Catherine, scuba diving, playing golf, cycling, watching sports and listening to audiobooks. In his spare time he volunteers at Mercy Clinic in South Fort Worth to give back to the community.

Hospital consult of the day. Patient was seen elsewhere had previously failed maxillary AoX so they decided to go for remote anchorage with pterygoids and zygomas. Now presented with orocutaneous fistula on the left side. ENT performed I&D and excision of fistula and I was consulted post-op. Pretty solid disaster. Mandibular arch also failing. Heading towards removal of implants and will have to see where we go from there. Also, TMJ’s are wiped out.

Happy Birthday to Lauren! Thank you for all that you do for us and out patients!

Couple fun cases from the last couple of days
Case 1: failing #18, 31 and missing #23, 30. Extracted #18,31 and placed implants at #23, 30. There was a vertical bone defect on the mesial of #22 so I cleaned that out, scaled the tooth and grafted the site. Got a nice result for this great patient!
Case 2: broken RCT #3 with pneumatized sinus but did have a decent inter-radicular bone island. Atraumatically removed the tooth, up-fractured the bone island/sinus floor, grafted w xwnograft then placed a 7x7.5mm implant. Got a nice lift with great primary stability and placed a P1 SmartShape healing abutment. The HA WASN’t fully seated in this photo so had to profile a bit more to get the abutment down all the way. Another nice result!

Failing #2,3,5 that was planned for an implant bridge. Very large bone defect in the posterior area so wasn’t able to get an immediate posterior implant. Did place an immediate implant at 5 and grafted everything with xenograft and BioGuide membrane. After a few months we placed a 7x10.5mm implant in 2/3 area so she should be ready for some teeth here in a couple of months with !

Non-restorable #9 that we extracted and did an implant for today. A little tougher than usual due to the angulation of the implant at #10 but we got a nice result for her! Atraumatically removed #9, prepped the site, packed xenograft along buccal/mesial/distal aspects then placed a 3.8x12mm implant to 35 Ncm. Placed a SmartShape healing abutment to support and shape the soft tissue emergence. Should be a nice result for her! Many thanks to for sending her our way!
