Our Hope is a Healthier community
In the U.S., many people live in areas known as Food Deserts, which are defined as ‘urban neighborhoods and rural towns without ready access to fresh, healthy, and affordable food.
In East fort Worth, there is only one full service grocery store.
Currently in Tarrant County, 28% of the population has low access to retail grocery stores that provide fresh fruits and vegetables. Without access to healthy food options, obesity and diabetes rates increase. Currently, about 71% of East Fort Worth residents are overweight or obese.
Healthy Tarrant County Collaboration and our many community partners are working to help make healthy choices easier to everyone in Fort Worth.
