Healthy Habits with Erica

Healthy Habits with Erica Health coaching focused on establishing sustainable healthy habits for people with busy schedules. Hi! I’m Erica — the face behind Healthy Habits with Erica.

My passion is helping people build sustainable, healthy habits that support their body, mind, and everyday life. My approach combines science, movement, and practical wellness strategies that actually work in the real world. I studied Nursing and Kinesiology at Texas Christian University, which gave me a strong foundation in how the body works and how lifestyle choices impact long-term health. I’m

also a Reformer Pilates and Yoga instructor, and I love helping people reconnect with their bodies through intentional movement. I’ve always been a bit of a nutrition and wellness fanatic — but not in a trendy, quick-fix way. I’m passionate about evidence-based approaches and understanding the why behind healthy habits. Everything I share is rooted in science, practical experience, and a genuine love for helping others feel their best. Through Healthy Habits with Erica, my goal is to make wellness feel approachable, sustainable, and empowering — whether that’s through movement, nutrition, mindset, or small daily habits that add up to big changes. Thanks for being here and being part of this community! 💛

Strong today is great. Strong in 10, 20, 30 years is the real goal.
My focus with training isn’t just short-term results—it’s building a body that can support you for the long run. That means strength, mobility, stability, and movement that keeps you feeling capable as life moves forward.
The goal isn’t just to work out. It’s to create long-term health that gives you long-term support.
What’s your favorite type of workout right now? Strength training, cardio, yoga, something else? 👇

Your spine isn’t just holding you up—it’s helping you twist, bend, breathe, and live. Treat it right. 🌀
A few minutes of spinal mobility today = a lot less creaky tomorrow. 🦴✨

It’s a common belief that the more you sweat, the more effective your workout was.
But sweat is simply your body cooling itself down.
Instead of focusing on sweat, pay attention to things like:
• strength improvements
• endurance
• heart rate recovery
• movement quality
Progress in fitness is measured by adaptation, not sweat.

Wake up your body the natural way 🌅🧘‍♀️

Practicing yoga right after you wake up helps gently transition your body and mind into the day. A few mindful stretches can release stiffness, improve circulation, and bring fresh energy to your muscles and joints.

Morning yoga also helps calm the mind, improve focus, and set a positive tone for everything that follows. Instead of rushing into the day, you create a moment to breathe, move, and reconnect with yourself.

Even just 5–10 minutes of yoga in the morning can make a big difference in how you feel throughout the day.

Start your day with movement, intention, and a deep breath. ✨

Pilates does more than just tone your body ✨

It helps build core strength, improve flexibility, and reduce stress — all while moving with control and intention.

Stronger body, calmer mind. 🧘‍♀️💪

Sometimes the healthiest thing you can do… is let go. ✨

Releasing things that no longer serve you — whether it’s stress, unrealistic expectations, toxic habits, or even the pressure to be perfect — can have a powerful impact on your health. Your body carries more than just physical weight. It also carries mental and emotional load.

When you start letting go of what’s draining you, you make space for things that support you: nourishing food, joyful movement, better sleep, and a calmer mind. 🌿

Health isn’t just about what you eat or how you exercise. It’s also about what you’re willing to release.

What’s one thing you’re ready to let go of this week? 💭

Healthy mornings set the tone for the whole day. ☀️ Here’s a simple routine that helps me start my day feeling energized and grounded:

☕ Collagen in my coffee – a quick way to support skin, joints, and overall wellness.
📝 Gratitude list – writing down a few things I’m thankful for shifts my mindset to positivity.
🌬 A few deep breaths – taking a moment to slow down and center myself.
🚶‍♀️ Morning walk – fresh air, movement, and sunlight to wake up the body and mind.

Small habits can make a big difference in living a healthier lifestyle. 💚

What does your morning routine look like? Drop it in the comments—I’m always looking for new healthy habits to try!

From a nurse’s perspective, recovery after a workout is important for helping the body repair and preventing injury. Here are six simple tips:

1. Stay hydrated 💧 – Drink water after exercise to replace fluids lost through sweat and support normal body function.
2. Eat a balanced meal 🍎 – Include protein and carbohydrates to help repair muscles and restore energy levels.
3. Stretch after exercise 🧘‍♀️ – Gentle stretching can help reduce muscle tightness and improve flexibility.
4. Get enough sleep 😴 – The body does much of its muscle repair during sleep.
5. Pay attention to pain ⚠️ – Some soreness is normal, but sharp or persistent pain should be taken seriously.
6. Take rest days 🛌 – Giving muscles time to recover helps prevent overuse and injury.

Proper recovery helps keep your body strong, supports muscle repair, and allows you to stay consistent with your workouts. 💪💚

Make your plate colorful 🌈

A colorful plate usually means you’re getting a variety of nutrients your body needs. Think leafy greens, bright berries, orange veggies, and vibrant peppers. The more natural color on your plate, the better!

Aim to add 2–3 different colors to your meals whenever you can. It’s a simple way to support your health and make meals more enjoyable too! 🥗✨
