Soule Therapy Kathryn Soule, PhD, LPC

Soule Therapy Kathryn Soule, PhD, LPC Anxiety Specialist, EMDR and IFS trained. Calm your anxiety, find genuine happiness. You just want to be happy, but your mind won't seem to stop.

Anxiety keeps filling your mind with endless To Do Lists, worries, "what if's," and terrifying worst-case scenarios. At times, anxiety may even totally take over your body out of nowhere. Suddenly, you have the urge to run even though nothing dangerous is happening. You try to control it, sometimes in ways that don't seem to make any sense. But nothing seems to work in the long run. You're tired of feeling out of control. You wish you could just relax and feel normal. You'd like to be present and actually experience life instead of just getting through it. What if you didn't have to keep working so hard to "manage" anxiety? What if you could have lasting peace of mind? What if you could even experience deep, genuine happiness as your most authentic self? I believe these things are possible. I'm a counselor specializing in alleviating anxiety, including stress, panic attacks, mild to moderate OCD, phobias, and trauma. My client focus is women and members of the LGBTQ community. My master's is in psychology from Columbia University, and my PhD is in counseling from Texas Tech. I'm an expert in helping you chart your path to peace of mind. I will teach you mindfulness tools to calm the mind in the present, while also clearing the roots of anxiety using cutting-edge EMDR therapy (eye movement desensitization and reprocessing) and IFS therapy (internal family systems) to rewire the brain. We don't just manage symptoms, together we find the deeper cause. Experience deep, transfomative healing. Find true peace and meaning as the authentic person you were always meant to be. Get started today on your path toward genuine, lasting happiness. Learn more or schedule a free phone consultation at www.SouleTherapy.com

"I shouldn't feel anxious right now, " "Other people don't get this anxious," "I should be able to handle this better. " "I'm just being crazy. "

With anxiety, a lot of times there's an anxious, fearful voice, and then another voice that can be pretty hard on the anxious voice. That logical voice just wants those terrible, scary, uncomfortable and embarrassing feelings to just go away. Unfortunately, trying to talk that scared part out of being scared doesn't really work.

Try imagining the scared part like a little scared child. If you tell it, "Stop being scared, you're just being stupid," does that child feel better or worse? What actually works to calm down our limbic system (the emotional brain) when it's activated, is empathy, kindness and compassion. Like getting a big comforting hug when you're upset. Imagine gently comforting that part, telling it, it's ok you're scared, I know this is hard, we'll get through this, we always do, we're safe right now...

A lot of us struggle with perfectionism. If I can do things perfect, I can feel safe, or I can keep something bad from happening, or I can feel worthwhile or valuable, or I can be a step closer to finally being happy.

Being whole means not having to work so hard to feel that peace you've been striving for.

Sometimes it feels mysterious to me to see how powerful EMDR therapy can be for clients with anxiety. Here's some thoughts on how it works.

Research points to three keys to its success.

If you struggle with panic attacks or strong physiological anxiety symptoms, most likely you wish you could just make it go away. You hate it when you start to feel that pounding heartrate, or shallow breathing, or tingling sensations, or like you're floating out of your body. You start to fear the....

Research shows EMDR can quickly help you feel back to yourself after traumatic or upsetting experiences, including a trip to the ER

Stressful, sometimes traumatic, a visit to the emergency room is not without consequences for patients. According to researchers attached to Inserm, however, it would be possible to alleviate post-concussion syndromes and post-traumatic stress disorders through an early session of EMDR, a therapy th...
