When swallowing becomes painful or food feels “stuck,” it’s more than discomfort — it can be a warning sign your esophagus needs attention. And for some patients, these symptoms eventually lead to an esophageal cancer diagnosis.

Our team performs advanced esophageal procedures designed to remove the cancer while giving you the strongest possible chance at long-term healing. Here’s what that care looks like:

🩺 Tailored surgical options — from removing small tumors to performing esophagectomy or esophagogastrectomy for larger, more invasive cancers.

🔍 Minimally invasive approaches whenever possible, reducing recovery time and helping patients regain strength sooner.

🔄 Reconstruction expertise — when part of the esophagus must be removed, our surgeons safely reconnect the remaining tissue to the stomach, or use a portion of the colon when needed.

🤝 Comprehensive care — surgery is often combined with chemotherapy or radiation to give the best chance at a cure.

If you’ve been struggling with worsening reflux, difficulty swallowing, unexpected weight loss, or the need to chew excessively before swallowing — your symptoms are worth taking seriously. Early evaluation makes a difference.

Our surgeons are here to walk with you through every step: diagnosis, treatment planning, surgery, and recovery. With experience, precision, and compassion guiding the entire process.

Flu season doesn’t just mean a few rough days in bed — for many people, especially those preparing for surgery or managing GI conditions, the flu can make everything harder…

As we recognize National Influenza Vaccination Week, it’s a good time to remember that protecting yourself from the flu protects more than just your lungs:

✨ It supports a safer surgical recovery
— Getting the flu before or after a procedure can delay healing, increase complications, and weaken your immune system when your body needs it most.

✨ It protects patients with GI issues
— Chronic inflammation, immune vulnerabilities, and certain GI conditions can make flu symptoms more severe.

✨ It helps keep your family, caregivers, and community safe
— Because healing is easier when the people around you stay healthy too.

You don’t have to be “high risk” for the flu shot to matter. A simple preventive step can make a real difference in how your winter — and your health — unfold.

Stay warm, stay well, and take good care of yourself this season.
Your health is worth protecting. 💛

Your symptoms are real.
Your story matters.
And you don’t have to manage IBD alone.

IBD isn’t “just stomach pain.”
It’s a chronic inflammatory condition that can affect every part of life — energy, appetite, work, relationships, and emotional well-being. Too many people push through discomfort for months (or years) before getting answers.

If you’re experiencing persistent digestive symptoms, a GI evaluation can bring clarity and relief. And when treatment includes surgery, minimally invasive and robotic approaches often mean less pain, fewer complications, and faster healing.

Whether you’ve recently been diagnosed, living with chronic flares, or trying to understand what your symptoms mean — we’re here to support you.

Earlier care leads to better outcomes. You deserve both answers and relief.

Heartburn that just won’t quit? It could be more than spicy food.
This GERD Awareness Week, we’re shining a light on a condition that affects 1 in 5 adults in the U.S.

GERD — or gastroesophageal reflux disease — can cause daily discomfort and, if left untreated, may lead to more serious complications.
The good news? It’s treatable.

👩‍⚕️ Our GI specialists work with patients to find the best path to relief, whether that’s lifestyle changes, medication, or minimally invasive procedures.

✨ Don’t let persistent heartburn control your life.

“Surgery isn’t just about fixing what’s wrong — it’s about helping people feel strong in their own bodies again.”
— Dr. Cathryn Coleman

Born and raised in Little Rock, Arkansas, Dr. Coleman’s journey in medicine has been defined by curiosity, hard work, and a genuine love for people. After earning a double major in Biology and Chemistry at Rhodes College, she returned home to earn her medical degree at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences.

Her path then led her to Texas, where she completed her General Surgery residency at Baylor University Medical Center in Dallas, serving as administrative chief resident in her final year.

Today, she’s proud to call Arlington home, offering advanced minimally invasive and robotic surgery with a special focus on complex hernia repair and abdominal wall reconstruction. Her goal: to help patients regain strength, comfort, and confidence in their daily lives.
