Before we work any magic on our patients, we strive to make sure that we understand them and their unique situations – everybody is different, and what might work on some may not work on others.

In a nutshell, our process looks like this:

First, we conduct a thorough medical history of the patient.

Then, we look at your vital signs – namely body temperature, pulse, breathing rate, and blood pressure.

After that, we visually inspect for spinal curves or other visible health indicators.

Once we’ve inspected visually, we use our hands to feel out your spine and the muscles and other soft tissues that support it.

Lastly, we conduct orthopedic and neurological examinations – fancy terms for assessing the function of your spine, joints, and muscles, and the function of your motor and sensory systems.

We are quite thorough ;)

It is not uncommon that the pain you may feel in your body is attributable to lingering neck pain.

Here’s an easy, but helpful way to stretch your neck – and you can do it anywhere, anytime.

Gently bend the head forward, bringing the chin toward the chest until a stretch is felt in the back of the neck.

It’s that easy!

🙋When should you seek chiropractic treatment?

Great question.❓

Simply put, if your days are harder than they need to be due to back pain, neck pain, headache, whiplash, or any other type of pain attributable to spinal cord misalignment…

Chances are, chiropractic care can help.

And remember, in the medical community we observe maintenance and prevention over mere solution.

Regular chiropractic visits can preserve healthy spine and joint function, and keep you feeling your best for years to come :)

Back pain, especially as we get older (no fun), can be a serious hindrance to our day to day function and mobility.

Here’s an easy stretch to reduce some of that discomfort you may be feeling in your lower back:

Lying on your back, pull both knees to your chest while simultaneously flexing the head forward until a comfortable stretch is felt across the mid and lower back.

Happy stretching!

Ironically, stretching can sometimes exacerbate, rather than alleviate, the pain we may feel in our neck and back. 🧘♀️

Here are a few helpful tips to prepare your body and your space for a safe and effective stretching routine:

-Wear comfortable clothing that won’t bind or constrict movements
-Do not force the body into difficult or painful positions—stretching should be pain free
-Move into a stretch slowly and avoid bouncing, which can cause muscle strain
-Stretch on a clean, flat surface that is large enough to move freely
-Hold stretches long enough (15 to 30 seconds) to adequately lengthen muscles and improve range of motion1
-Repeat a stretch between 2 and 5 times—a muscle usually reaches maximum elongation after about 4 repetitions1
-Stretch one side of the body at a time

Hope this helps 😀

Back pain is a B…

Oops, we almost forgot ourselves there – but seriously, back pain is literally the worst.

But sleep, as we all know, has mystical powers, and sleeping in the proper position can improve your rest and help mitigate painful symptoms during the day:

Some even find it helpful to put a little pillow between their legs!

Hope this helps :)

As a general rule of thumb, use ice for acute injuries or pain, and heat for muscle pain.
Treating pain with cold, referred to as cryotherapy, is an easy and effective way to reduce inflammation and relieve nerve damage.
Be careful though:
Cold therapy applied for too long or too directly can result in skin, tissue, or nerve damage.

We chiropractors owe a great debt to this man here, Clarence Gonstead, founder of the Gonstead technique, and the first chiropractor to bring our practice from obscurity to a recognizable bio-medical science.

Thank you, Mr. Gonstead! :)
