Casye’s kind of magic—and we’re here for it.

From her independent, rebellious spirit to her work as a compassionate therapist, Casye’s curiosity about human behavior and commitment to mental wellness drives everything she does. She’s always expanding her skills and offerings to better support her clients. Her therapy dog, GumBeaux, often joins sessions, helping make the room a little more relaxed and welcoming.

With her newly completed training in Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART), she’s now even better equipped to help adolescents and adults work through life’s challenges.

She is accepting new clients and offers a free 15-minute consultation to get started. To learn more about her, visit: https://vervewell.org/our-team/casye-leray/

Call someone a narcissist and watch the room tense up.

The word has become cultural shorthand for the worst kinds of people. But psychology has always meant something more nuanced.

A healthy dose of narcissism is what allows a person to take up space in their own life. Without it, people can spend years being agreeable, reliable, and slowly disappearing behind everyone else’s needs.

Blake’s newest blog explores the kind of narcissism that actually makes relationships, and life, healthier.

Have mental health terms become weaponized?

“Gaslighting.” “Trauma.” “Narcissist.” “Triggered.”

These words began as clinical language for real psychological experiences. But when everything is trauma and everyone is a narcissist, the language loses its meaning. Worse, it keeps us stuck in labels instead of moving us toward growth.

Mental health terms are tools, not verdicts. They should help you recognize patterns, but they aren't meant to define your identity or excuse harmful behavior. Real wellness isn't about having the right vocabulary; it’s about the actual effort you put in.

That means going to therapy and practicing deep reflection. It requires honest conversations where you identify patterns and consciously change habits. This process is messy and slow, but that’s where change actually happens.

At Vervewell, we believe language can open the door—but therapy helps you walk through it. We’re here to help you reconnect with yourself and build a life that feels grounded.

If you're ready to look past the labels and find a path that feels right to you, DM us or visit https://vervewell.org/contact/

A lot of men don’t feel “sad” when they’re depressed.

They feel irritated, or tired, or checked out. They stay busy so they don’t have to think. They pull away and don’t really know why.

And they tell themselves, “I’m fine. Just stressed.”

Sometimes that’s true. Sometimes it’s not.

Jason works with men who are trying to understand what they’re carrying and find a healthier way forward. Drawing from both his clinical training and his own lived experience, he helps men navigate depression, anxiety, ADHD, and relationship challenges.

If something feels off, it’s worth paying attention to. Jason offers a free 15-minute consultation to get started. Learn more and schedule here: https://vervewell.org/our-team/jason-leito/

We’re excited to welcome Aria Loveless-Green to Vervewell as our newest student intern! Currently completing her Master’s in Clinical Mental Health Counseling, she will work with clients around life transitions, identity exploration, and trauma.

As a student intern, Aria uses existential therapy and ACT to help clients reconnect with their truest selves. When she’s not in the clinic, Aria is usually outdoors—likely with a camera in hand while hiking or kayaking. On her off days, she trades the trail for a cozy book, a deep-dive into Wikipedia, or some quality time with her cat, Amity.

Her journey into counseling has been a deeply personal one. You can read her full story here: https://vervewell.org/our-team/aria-loveless-green/

Aria will be with us through May as an intern and will then continue at Vervewell as an LPC Associate under Beth’s supervision.

Friends offer comfort: They are great at listening, validating, and empathizing. They care deeply and want to help.

Therapists offer structure: Therapists are trained to spot patterns, underlying themes, and blind spots that are hard to see from the inside.

Friends respond personally: Friends share opinions, experiences, and advice based on their own lives and biases.

Therapists respond intentionally: They use evidence-based approaches, clinical training, and intentional questions to help clients think, feel, and respond differently.

Friends are in the story: Friends are part of someone’s life and relationships, which can make conversations emotional, protective, or filtered.

Therapists are neutral: Therapists aren’t in the client’s life. That neutrality creates space for honesty, clarity, and growth without consequences in personal relationships.

Friends help you feel better: Venting often brings relief in the moment.

Therapy helps you get better: Therapy focuses on long-term change - patterns, coping strategies, relationships, and identity.

Both friends and therapy play important roles. For those ready to move beyond venting, Vervewell’s team of experienced therapists is here to help. Schedule a consultation to see if working together feels like a good fit. https://vervewell.org/

Let’s talk about s*x.

Or really, let’s talk about intimacy. Some people think intimacy is just about s*x, but it’s not. It’s about feeling seen and wanted. It’s about being close again.

When it’s missing, it usually points to something deeper than just attraction or mood. Stress, resentment, trauma, or simply drifting apart can quietly reshape connection over time. Because it’s so personal, these struggles can feel deeply isolating.

Beth and Heather have extensive experience working with couples facing these exact challenges. They understand how uncomfortable these conversations can feel, and they help make them approachable.

Intimacy issues in the bedroom rarely start there - but therapy is where they can finally be resolved.

Take the first step: Book a free 15-minute consultation with Heather or Beth today.

You may be wondering what a therapy dog actually does all day.
Allow us to elaborate. Meet GumBeaux - aka G - who takes her role at Vervewell very seriously.

• 5:00am: Wake-up call. She is STARVING. Stretching, dramatic “talking,” intense eye contact, and light whining while breakfast is prepared at an unacceptable pace.

• Breakfast: Inhaled. No chewing. Immediately followed by a full-speed sprint outside to handle business.

• Getting ready: “Brushes her teeth,” receives a Greenie, a breath bone, and a spritz of PawFume. Glam is not optional.

• Commute: Mandatory coffee stop for her “coffee” (Pup Cup). Window down on 8th Ave. This is non-negotiable.

• Arrival: Parking lot potty break. Always. Even if she just went.

• Office routine: Water bowl first. Then a treat. For existing.

• Work mode: Greets every client like a celebrity reunion. During sessions, she stretches out on the couch, ideally on or directly touching the client if petting is available.

• Between sessions: Potty break. Another treat. We repeat this cycle.

• After hours: Sunbathing, rolling in grass, bringing half the yard inside, multiple naps, and patiently reminding everyone that dinner is approaching.

Frankly, she’s overworked. And underpaid. Ruff work, but someone’s gotta run morale and help the humans - one rub and treat at a time. Want to learn more about sessions with GumBeaux and her human, Casye? Send us a DM or visit vervewell.org/our-team/casye-leray

Part raw memoir, part hands-on workbook - this one belongs on your reading list. In Stop Talking About Your Childhood, Beth pulls no punches, offering a bare-naked look at her childhood and early adult years alongside the exact methods she created and used to break free from her own limiting beliefs. It hooks you from page one and delivers practical, powerful tools you can actually use. This is the book we’ve been waiting for Beth to write.

As both a therapist and the storyteller, Beth is uniquely positioned to go there - sharing an open and honest account of her life while making the insights feel tangible and accessible. Her story is deeply relatable and the guidance is clear. You walk away feeling understood, less alone, and better equipped to find the clarity you’ve been searching for.

The book is available here: https://bit.ly/4aiXyyV
