Redwood Pediatric Medical Group was started in 1976 to provide care for the children of the Eel River Valley. We currently have one Pediatrician and one Nurse Practitioner . Staff

James Killfoil, MD

Dr. Killfoil completed medical school at the University of California, San Diego, and did his pediatric training at the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia. He joined the practice in 1996.

Some children are not ignoring you. They just cannot respond in that moment.

They might be deeply focused on what they are doing. They might not have processed what you said yet. They might feel overwhelmed, tired, or unsure what you actually mean. And sometimes, the more we repeat instructions, the less children really hear them.

What looks like “not listening” is often a child struggling with attention, understanding, or emotions.

When adults shift from repeating, raising their voice, or assuming defiance, and instead slow down, connect, and give clear, simple guidance, behaviour often changes.

Children do better when they feel understood, not controlled.

Our pantry is always in need…

If you have unopened shelf stable goods, breads, cereal, peanut butter & jelly, fruits & veggies, baby food, diapers, formula, etc., our doors are open from 9-5 M-F & Saturday, 9-12 for drop offs (& pick ups).

If you need a meal or two, we also try to put together some “ready to go” meal kits to help folks get through these tough times, especially towards the end of the month, when everyone is trying to make ends meet.

Staff James Killfoil, MD Dr. Killfoil completed medical school at the University of California, San Diego, and did his pediatric training at the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia. He joined the practice in 1996. Evan Buxbaum, MD Dr. Buxbuam completed medical school at Duke University and did his pediatric training at The University of Vermont. He joined the practice in 2011.
