I mean, we need SNAP benefits restored yesterday. But did they not think our communities would show up with mutual aid food projects of people baking bread and collecting fruit and mobilizing to feed eachother? You can not take humanity out of being human, you can only temporarily try to convince them who gets to be treated like one.

Like has said, there will always be a pebble in the shoe, something uncomfortable or unpleasant that is in our human experience. Why not accept that first arrow of inevitable suffering without adding another arrow of suffering by trying to deny, pathologize or consume our way out of what it is to be human.

You know that feeling when you are compelled to apologize for showing up frazzled or tired or grumpy or not present and the person holding space says to you that the thing you are apologizing for is welcome here, and then you take a spontaneous deeper breath because not only do you not have to apologize for what you can't control, not only do you not have to perform, but it is ok with them that you are exactly as you are in that moment? and then you leave with that savory, sweet slice of self acceptance that you didn't realize was there all along. That's what I mean by Surrender.
