March has been full of joy, music, and meaningful moments here at Sequoia! 🍀✨

We kicked off the month with a special bagpipe performance by Brian Schwartzberg from the North Coast Bagpipers and have been celebrating ever since. From socials, baking, bingo, and art to outings, therapy dog visits, and more—we’ve truly done it all!

Our St. Patrick’s Day Ice Cream Sundae Bar was a sweet highlight, and the music this month brought great energy and connection, including performances by Ukes of Hazzard and a piano recital with Ruth McClimons’ students. 🎹

A heartfelt thank you to our amazing performers—Mike McClimons, David Dement, The Harmonious Group, Ukes of Hazzard, Mike Gibbs, Anna Hamilton, Deb Woods, and Ruth McClimons’ students—as well as our wonderful volunteers who lead Exercise and Bingo. 💚

We’re so grateful for everyone who brings joy, connection, and life into our community. 🎶

Holiday happy hour or just another day — our amazing culinary team brings the same care and dedication to every meal. Our residents enjoy delicious, home-cooked food served daily with smiles and heart. We’re lucky to have such a wonderful team! 🍽️

Rainy days call for slowing down 🤍

Today we enjoyed a relaxing art session while the rain tapped on the windows — and then we had the sweetest surprise visit from Elaina with Giddie Up Cha Cha Cha! She brought her adorable bunnies, and our residents got to hold and snuggle them.

There is something so special about the calm that comes from creating art and the joy that comes from holding a soft, warm little bunny. So many smiles today.

We are so grateful for community partners who bring these meaningful moments to Sequoia Springs 🐰🎨

Throughout the Month, our residents were surrounded by the most beautiful outpouring of love from our community. From heartfelt singing performances and music recitals to thoughtful visits, handmade cards, and sweet treats, every gesture meant so much.

A special thank you to Fortuna Elementary, Fortuna Middle School, Fortuna High School, Fortuna FFA, New Life Christian School, Cuddleback School, Little School House Charter School, , and the many families and community members who stopped by to share cards or candy.

You truly made our residents feel seen, celebrated, and deeply loved.

We are incredibly grateful to be part of such a caring community. Thank you for filling Sequoia Springs with so much joy this Valentine’s Month. 💕

Our Culinary Team treated residents to a special Valentine’s dessert — Mango Panna Cotta topped with strawberry, mango gel, and fresh berries. Sweet, refreshing, and made with care for the people who call our community home.

Moments like these remind us it’s the little touches that make every day feel special. Happy Valentine’s Day from all of us ❤️🍓

The Cupboard and the Cuddeback Choir performed for Sequoia Springs Assisted Living & Memory Care yesterday! My oh-so special performance recording camera wasn't recording for the whole first half of the show, so if anyone captured video or photos, please feel free to share them!

We have so many brave little musicians! I am so proud of them for putting themselves out there! It warms my heart to see them grow with each performance!

Thank you so much to all of the performing students and their families and to the wonderful residents and staff at Sequoia Springs! You are always so welcoming to our young performers!

Thank you so much to Elliot Dabill for another wonderful monthly lecture. Elliot is a fantastic speaker, and our residents truly look forward to seeing him each month.

This month’s topic was sleep, and it sparked great conversation and interest among residents.

A little about Elliot — he is a retired high school biology teacher and a volunteer docent with the Bureau of Land Management – Arcata Field Office, where he leads Trinidad Lighthouse Tours within the California Coastal National Monument and Salmon Pass Tours in the Headwaters Forest Reserve. He is also the president of the Friends of the Arcata Marsh and has led hikes through the Arcata Marsh, local redwood forests, and historic Old Town Eureka. He has a wonderful way of connecting people to our local natural and cultural history.

We’re already looking forward to next month’s lecture, which comes right in time for Valentine’s month and will focus on the evolution of the heart ❤️
Our residents are so lucky to have such brilliant members of the community sharing their knowledge with them.

🐾💛 We love our visits with Kiya the Therapy Dog! 💛🐾
Kiya brings so much joy, comfort, and calm to our residents with her gentle cuddles and sweet personality. Smiles, laughter, and warm moments fill the room every time she visits. Thank you Alan and Kiya for your visit this morning!
