• Last year, 17,000 H-1B visas were granted or renewed within the health care sector. Our health care workforce cannot afford to lose this many professionals, which will happen when the normal $500-$1,000 visa fee skyrockets to $100,000.

The Trump administration’s demand for companies to pay a $100,000 fee to hire an immigrant worker using an H-1B visa has created turmoil among rural health providers.

California is standing up for newborn health. Despite a recent federal advisory panel decision to scale back universal birth-dose vaccinations for Hepatitis B, California (along with other West Coast states) is urging that all newborns still receive the birth-dose — a strategy credited with reducing childhood infections by 99%. It’s a powerful reminder that preventive care saves lives. 💉 Read more 👉

California physicians stand united in scientific understanding that the hep B birth dose is essential for public health. CDC 's recent decision will increase infections, widen equity gaps and hurt newborns when screening is missed.

Today's ACIP decision ignores how devastating—and entirely preventable—hepatitis B truly is, and it threatens infants whose mothers’ screening is incomplete or delayed and children who may be exposed in their communities. We are, in effect, dismantling an intervention that has worked for decades and could help us eradicate hepatitis B—and we are doing so for no legitimate reason. https://www.cmadocs.org/newsroom/news/view/ArticleId/51079/CMA-calls-ACIP-hepatitis-B-vote-a-quot-profound-setback-for-child-health-in-America-quot

The Hep B birth dose has cut childhood infections by 99% since 1991. No new evidence supports removing it. Physicians across California urge CDC : stay with the science. Keep the birth-dose recommendation. Every newborn deserves the same level of protection—no exceptions.
