🎉 Good News for Our Nursing Residents & Families! 🎉

We’re happy to share some positive news coming from the State of Ohio that directly benefits individuals receiving long-term care services.

Beginning January 1, 2026, the Personal Needs Allowance (PNA) for individuals living in nursing facilities—including Good Shepherd Home (nursing residents)—will increase from $50 to $75 per month.

This increase, approved through the recent state budget process, allows residents to keep more of their own money each month for personal items and everyday needs.

Elvina "Kitty" Benfer, a nursing home resident at GSH says she thinks this news is going to make a lot of seniors happy. "They'll be able to buy some extra items that they wouldn't normally be able to get, or maybe do some shopping at Walmart," she says.

Residents and families impacted by this change will receive official notification explaining how it may affect their monthly cost of care. If you have questions, our team is always happy to help guide you in the right direction.

We’re grateful for this step forward and are thankful to advocate alongside our residents for changes that support dignity, comfort, and quality of life.

Please feel free to reach out to us with any questions!

⭐ Congratulations ⭐ to all of our areas for the awesome decorations--there was certainly no shortage of Christmas Spirit at GSH! While the 200 "Gingerbread" Hall walked away with the win, all the areas did an amazing job, not just with awesome decorations, but also with fun, interactive activities, and inventive (and delicious!) treats. Most importantly, it all brought smiles and Christmas cheer to our residents 😊 Merry Christmas to all! 🎄🎅
