“Slow down” and “holiday season” aren’t a duo we see very often this time of year. If allowing yourself to slow down is difficult for you, use this list to help you engage in your senses and bring you to a moment of calm in the present. 🤍

It might feel counterintuitive to view this time of year as less than happy or merry. If that is you, allow yourself time to honor your feelings whether they are of loss, grief, anger, sadness, disappointment or all of the above. You don’t have to rush yourself out of them and it’s ok if they come up more than once this season. In the midst of your feelings, remember to be kind to yourselves, friends. 🤍

While this may seem like a magical time for our littles, we often forget how the things that impact and overwhelm us also impact and overwhelm them in their own way. When our kids are having a hard time, we often have to slow ourselves down and take into consideration what they may be needing and how we connect rather reject or deflect. What are ways you can connect with your children in a meaningful way this season?

2024 // We’re barely into December with piles of to-do lists and therapy is often the last thing people want to think about let alone any plans or resolutions for the New Year. Think of this as a friendly reminder of things to think about this season if you are in need of your own mental and emotional support. This season tends to bring up a lot of complex feelings so whether you’re ready to start (or re-start) therapy now or need some time to get through the holidays, we hope Part 1 of this list will be helpful as you reflect on what you need over the next few weeks. Take care, friends. 🤍

FATIGUE // this already happening to you? Cause we sure know what this feels like! There just doesn’t seem to be enough time in the day to get the never ending to-do list done and we’re already running late to that 15th holiday party of the season. We hope this provides some insight to why “the most wonderful time of the year” often feels like a mix of emotions even though we don’t always know why. However you observe this time of year, we hope you take special care of yourself, friends. 🤍

The holidays aren’t always easy and may bring up many complex feelings for many people. We hope this list helps you create the mental and emotional space you need to have the holiday season you want and not the one you feel like you have to settle for. We see this as your gentle reminder to be kind to yourself as we roll into the winter season.

I T ‘ S F R I - Y A Y ! // Don’t LEAF it to the last minute to be mindful of what your needs are as you close out the week and start the weekend! 🍂 Self-care isn’t just bubble baths and massages, but practical ways you can prioritize yourself. That might be writing your to-do list down before you leave the office, putting in your favorite music in the drive home or doing any of the options listed above. Regardless of how you self-care, we hope you take a little moment to be mindful of yourself and know that you are worthy of having your needs met. 🧡 🍁

Coming up towards the end of year, we can lose track of our relationship with the anticipation of the holidays and end of year duties. So if quality time is not AUTUMN-matically on your radar in your relationship, we encourage you to take the time to sit down with your partner (or any other special person in your life) to find where you can connect in a meaningful way during this season.🧡

R E S O U R C E S // as we wrap up the week commemorating we recognize the many barriers and limitations that people face in accessing mental health care. We hope these resources can provide a starting point for those looking to invest in their mental health/in need of resources. Wishing you all a restful and kind weekend. 💕

S U P P O R T // Our mental health difficulties do not need to be met with hopelessness. While effort and teamwork is often necessary in mental health work, many are able to live the meaningful life they desire as a result of the care they receive. Whether you are the mental health professional providing care or the client receiving support, the work you do is valuable. 💎✨
