Your Premier Home Repair and Improvement Company. Hi, I'm Jamie! Growing up in the suburbs of Pennsylvania as a child, I always loved working with my hands.

I credit my Dad, a “Mr. Fix-It,” for passing his technical and mechanical knowledge down and my Mom for encouraging me to pursue my joy. Woodshop and art became my favorite classes in school: Working with my hands to create was rewarding. After high school, I pursued my passions, working in internships with engineering firms and eventually receiving my B.S. in Architectural Engineering from Drexel University. Before starting the Helpful HandyWoman, my career spanned pharmacy tech work, engineering, and flipping houses. Each experience gave me either customer service or professional skills that laid the foundation of my business. Handy work allows me to express my creativity and share it with my clients. As an animal lover and owner of two dogs, I love designing projects to help keep pets safe in their homes or yards. And as a creative, my work allows me to problem-solve and design solutions that make people’s lives easier. There are some dream projects I have in mind to accomplish someday. Topping the list are opening a farm animal sanctuary and vegan bed and breakfast and creating a secret passageway in someone’s home (maybe my own!). When I’m not improving people’s homes, I enjoy reading and discussing personal development books with my book club or spending time on the water in our little local slice of paradise.

Pre-Holiday Home Tip: Test Your Heat Before Guests Arrive

Before the cooler weather (finally) settles in and the holiday guests start rolling through the door, here’s a quick home tip you’ll be glad you did:

Turn your heat on for at least 30 minutes before you actually need it.
It’s totally normal to notice a faint burning smell — that’s just dust burning off the coils after months of sitting unused.
