Today is Developmental Language Disorder Day! ✨

DLD is a hidden, but common communication disorder that affects 1 in 14 children. Children with DLD have persistent difficulties using and/or understanding language.

Early signs can include:
🗣️Late talking
👂Difficulty following instructions
📚Difficulty reading, writing, and/or telling stories
😣Frustration when trying to communicate

How to support children with DLD:
⭐️Use clear and simple language
⭐️Check for understanding, not just compliance
⭐️Break down multi-step instructions
⭐️Give extra processing time
⭐️Work collaboratively with SLPs, educators and families
