COMING SOON: The Pickleball Match That Will Go Down in History

Care Managers and Professional Colleagues are gearing up for a “friendly yet competitive” pickleball match — and by the looks of it, both teams have wildly overestimated their athletic abilities. Confidence levels are high. Skill levels… remain unverified.

The Care Managers are practicing like they’re training for a championship they invented five minutes ago. They’ve got strategy boards, pep talks, and at least one person insisting they have a “signature move” no one has actually seen.

Meanwhile, their Professional Colleagues are equally unhinged — buying matching paddles, coordinating warm ups, and ordering the kind of swagger usually reserved for people who’ve already designed their victory speech.

Both teams are:
• Ready (emotionally, if not physically)
• Competitive (to a concerning degree)
• Overconfident (spectacularly so)
• Goofy (this is not up for debate)
• Convinced they’re winning (delusion is a team sport)

This match promises dramatic dives, questionable serves, and at least one moment where someone pretends they “totally meant to do that.”

Who will take the crown? Who will take a tumble? Who will take the rules way too seriously?

We’ll find out on May 14th — and trust us, you’ll want front row seats to this beautiful chaos!

As this Thanksgiving week comes to a close, I’ve taken some time to reflect on how truly grateful I am for Mimi’s Choice and for the incredible people I’ve met through this work. Serving the aging population can feel like a roller coaster at times, but moments like this remind me exactly why we do what we do.
This week, one of my sweet clients surprised me with the most beautiful flower arrangement — completely unexpected. Gestures like these aren’t just kind; they’re a reflection of the trust and connection that grow when we walk alongside seniors as care managers.

When we have the privilege of partnering with seniors over time, relationships deepen, trust flourishes, and meaningful, even magical, moments unfold. I’m grateful every day for the opportunity to support them, learn from them, and be part of their lives.

One year ago today, I took a leap of faith and launched Mimi’s Choice Care Management. It’s been one of the best decisions I’ve made. It’s not always easy, but it’s incredibly rewarding. There is something truly special about getting to know and care for our aging loved ones. I have had the pleasure of linking arms with amazing clients and their families as they navigate the senior healthcare system. My hope is that I can continue to provide the support and guidance families need to make the best decisions for their loved ones.
I have learned so much over the past year both personally and professionally. I have networked with colleagues in our industry-many who I now call friends. Colleges who are on the same mission of supporting our aging population and who I can call on in any crisis situation. For that I am grateful.
One of the things I love most about my business, is getting to talk about my mom every day. She was the best Mimi we could have ever had and I know she’s been pushing me along the way this year. Happy heavenly 69th birthday to the best! Excited for what’s to come in year 2 of Mimi’s Choice 🩷

Yesterday was the start of the Foxboro Senior Olympics! Our amazing seniors from Foxboro, Walpole and Randolph walked two miles around Gillette 🙌🏻 and topped the fun off with a ball toss! I was impressed! So much fun!

I recently accompanied my 91 year old client to the eye doctor. She had been complaining of irritation and drainage from her eyes. She was diagnosed with Blepharitis, which is pretty common in older adults. The doctor prescribed eye drops and sent the script electronically to her preferred pharmacy.
24 hours later, my client received a call from the pharmacy stating due to the high cost of the eye drops and her insurance plan, she would be responsible for the $886 deductible. My client was panicked and didn’t know what to do.

As her care manager, it’s my job to advocate for my clients needs. I went back to her provider looking for alternatives that might be more cost effective. There were none. I called multiple pharmacies, large and small hoping to find a solution for her. Finally, after much research we discovered the HealthWell Foundation.

The HealthWell foundation is a non-profit organization dedicated to improving access to healthcare when health insurance isn’t enough. Through their Disease Grants program, they help fill the financial gap by assisting with co-pays, premiums, deductibles and out-of-pocket expenses. Their mission is to help people all across the county, afford essential treatments and medications.

I was able to assist my client in applying for this program right over the phone. She was approved right away and her eye drops were delivered the next day at no cost to her.

My client was so relieved and her eyes are better already! What may seem like a small victory to me, meant so much to her and her family.
