Seeing horses happy, relaxed, and releasing is one of my favorite things. This guy took a break from bodywork for a bit, and it makes me incredibly overjoyed to welcome him back.

Nugget is loving the ab massage here. Lots of important muscles in this area- intercostals, obliques, deep pectorals, among others.

Lots of muscles at the ribcage- intercostals, obliques, deep pectorals, latissomus dorsi even crosses the ribs among others.

I’m Erin Barbato, a Nationally Board Certified Equine Massage Practitioner holding certifications in Equine Massage, Red Light Therapy, Trigger Point Therapy, Equine Kinesiology Taping, and Instrument Assisted Soft Tissue Mobilization. I am based in MA and travel to Wellington, FL throughout the year. I utilize a thoughtful, multimodality approach to Equine massage, and I work with the other athlete on your team to keep you doing what you love, together.

Releasing the right glute had this horse immediately stretching out his left hind leg, and then adducting (stepping inwards) to finish out that outer thigh, groin and hip stretch.

I’m a Nationally board certified equine massage practitioner with certifications in equine massage therapy, Equine Kinesiology taping, trigger point therapy, red light therapy, and instrument assisted soft tissue mobilization. While listening to your horse I massage with many different techniques such as Swedish, trigger point, and myofascial release. I help the other athlete on your team so you can get back to doing what you love, together.

The splenius muscle is a large, superficial muscle in your horses’ neck. It controls elevating, extending, and moving the head and neck side to side. With that, it is also used to stabilize the spine during walk, trot, and canter, and is especially utilized during collection.

My model Toppy isn’t a big yawner, but is an excellent communicator. His ears are relaxed, eyes soft, his lips are twitching and droopy. He’s also blinking frequently and eventually (and quickly) closes his eyes.

Keeping the splenius flexible and soft will help with coming through to the bit, softening through the poll, improved lateral movements including half-pass, stronger collection, and easier gaits with lighter movement.
