Understanding the underlying reasons behind cold extremities is an important first step toward managing the condition effectively and maintaining comfort and well-being throughout the winter months.

Some people experience unusually cold extremities in winter, which can be attributed to several common causes, the most important of which are:

•
When exposed to cold, the body constricts the blood vessels in the hands and feet to preserve the warmth of vital organs such as the heart and lungs.

•
Sitting for long periods without movement reduces blood flow to the extremities.

•
Conditions such as diabetes, anemia, or peripheral artery disease can reduce blood flow to the hands and feet.
