Devoted Doula

Devoted Doula Devoted to empowering and supporting families throughout their pregnancy, labor, and postpartum journeys. I can clearly remember my first birthing experience.

It was August 5,1996, the birthday of my niece. I was only 19 years of age, when my older sister asked me to be by her side during labor. I remember the excitement I felt when she asked me and also the nervousness running through me because I didn’t know what to expect. It was a life changing experience to say the least! Going into something like childbirth with no prior knowledge or education is scary! I can remember trying to help my sister, but not really knowing how. I was running back and forth to the nurses station because I was sure my sister should not be in so much pain! I remember holding her leg while she tried to push my niece out, wide eyed, and mouth open. Then it happened…. I will never forget the feeling, watching as my nieces head was born. An overwhelming feeling of happiness and awe. It was beautiful and so amazing! I couldn’t believe what my eyes just witnessed and I was amazed at what my sisters body was able to do! This is why I became a Doula. I wanted to learn how to be the support for women during their pregnancy, labor, and postpartum experiences. I am always looking for ways to expand my knowledge to better support my clients, and I enjoy being able to! Childbirth is a miracle that is different for every single mother and child, but a true miracle at that. Fast forwarding through time, my niece who’s birth I attended so long ago had grown and was expecting a baby of her own. On March 24,2021 I was able to virtually attend the birth of my great nephew! Watching and assisting with two generations of births! How did I get so lucky?! I am also lucky to have married my best friend, my husband Tony. We have been blessed with two amazing children: our daughter Jade and our son Joseph. They give me the strength and purpose to be better than I was yesterday. Now it is my desire and goal to help encourage and support other woman through their child birthing journey and their transition into motherhood.

This group is so empowering and inspiring. I am so thankful to be part of a group of women who support and uplift each other. We are stronger together!🤨
Thank you all for always being there. 💕

Our team of doulas are MORE than the skills and certifications they hold. 👉🏼 This is a team of growing, kind, open-minded and loyal people, whose dedication to each other and this community ignites the ultimate ripple effect.

I'm grateful to know this team (30+ people currently) and witness how they show up as people.
.. They carpool to team events, team up at conferences and are eager to step in as backup 👥 when needed.
..They cheer each other on, showing up for things like fundraiser or meal drop-offs after moments of birth and death. 🥧
.. They listen and brainstorm 🧠 when something exciting is in the works or when life on call or knee-deep in postpartum care gets heavy.
.. They are responsive and quick to jump in when me or fantastic admin reach out. (And wow, does Sonny shine bright 🌞)
.. They share resources, are guest speakers at our team lunch & learns, and are constantly open to learning something new.

As World Doula Week 2026 is behind us, I want to express deep gratitude for not just what they do, but for who they *are* 💚

All my love,
Allison

I had the pleasure of attending a powerful Black Lives Matter conference this weekend, focused on black maternal health. It left me feeling angry and sad at first, then empowered and also grateful for this organization. I spent the day listening, learning and realizing how much more education on black maternal health is still needed. 80% of maternal deaths could have been prevented. With the US having the highest rate of maternal deaths. This is so sad and so unnecessary. These things should not be happening anymore. This is your sign to educate yourself more and better support your black and brown community. I encourage you to attend one of these conferences and learn the facts of what is really happening.
Thank you for organizing this meeting and helping to educate and inspire others. Thank you for grounding us before and after this powerful event and for taking a picture with and 🥰 Thank to all of the speakers and sponsors! I am so grateful for the programs and groups you have created to help educate parents and health care professionals. and TeamBirth! I appreciate you!
