Lunch & learning 🍽️

Our team took time today to learn more about Brixadi, one of the injectable treatment options for opioid use disorder (OUD). Providing lunch gave staff the opportunity to connect, ask questions, and better understand how this medication can support recovery.

Investing in staff education helps us provide informed, compassionate care to those we serve.

We’re growing, and we’re excited to introduce one of our newest team members at CommonHealth Recovery: Andrea Roy, LCADC, CSW.

Andrea brings 10+ years of experience in substance use counseling and a strong reputation for leadership, advocacy, and truly individualized care. She has dedicated her career to serving minority and underserved communities, helping people push through barriers that can stand between them and lasting recovery.

Andrea is also co-occurring trained, meaning she can treat substance use and mental health needs together, not separately. That integrated approach is a big part of what makes care more effective and more sustainable, and it aligns directly with our mission to provide compassionate, evidence-based treatment that meets people where they are.

We are accepting new patients for Andrea now.

Big news for our community: please help us welcome Shelbi Watts, MSN, APRN, PMHNP-BC to CommonHealth Recovery.

Shelbi is a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner with experience in behavioral health, Medication-Assisted Treatment (MAT), and care coordination. She brings a calm, steady presence and a whole-person approach that recognizes how mental health, physical health, and life stressors are often connected.

Shelbi will play a vital role in expanding access to psychiatric services through our Addiction Psychiatry Program and our Behavioral Health Psychiatry Program (coming soon). Her focus is helping people feel more stable and supported through thoughtful evaluation, collaborative treatment planning, and medication management when appropriate, especially for those navigating both substance use and mental health concerns.

Addiction Psychiatry supports people with co-occurring mental health needs who are in active addiction or recovery, including those in MAT who also need psychiatric care.
Behavioral Health Psychiatry focuses on diagnosing and treating conditions like depression, anxiety, trauma-related disorders, and mood disorders.

Shelbi is currently taking new patients. If you or someone you care about could benefit from support, we’re here to help and will meet you with respect, privacy, and compassion. Call (502) 661-1444 or visit commonhealthky.com.

Our Purpose

CommonHealth Kentucky exists to provide patient-centered healthcare with excellence in quality, service, and access. The state of Kentucky is a leading state in terms of substance abuse, overdose, addiction, and co-occurring mental health disorders. Due to the ruralness of the Kentucky landscape, lack of government stimulus funding, and void of available health care professionals, CommonHealth exists to patch these holes and provide excellent and available healthcare that is easily accessible, affordable, and driven by research. Because substance abuse and mental health have become a very common problem in Kentucky and the surrounding states, we are bringing CommonHealth care to fix a very common health problem; the disease of addiction, substance abuse, and co-occurring mental health disorders.
