Amen!!!! Finally starting to see some rules and regulations in the med spa arena be enforced!! Illinois is right on their tails! A nurse or non full practice np or PA or esthetician can not open their own med spa in Illinois. It's illegal. And the ones who do operate with the legal paperwork of a medical director do not have the prescriptive authority or scope of practice to work independently!! It's so scary out there. A nurse can't take a weekend pregnancy course and then open their own labor and delivery unit!! So why is aesthetics any different. Practice smart. Practice legal. And only go to those places with onsite hands on directors. When something goes sideways, you'll wish you did.
