If your heart needs help from a pacemaker, ask if it’s a defibrillator. Obviously, the Cardiologist decides what type of apparatus to use, but a defibrillator disqualifies you permanently from driving with a CDL license.

A pacemaker does not and may keep you on the road.

A diabetic driver who's had a change in medication, to include insulin, just needs Form 5870 filled out by their P*P BEFORE seeing a CME for their DOT Physical.

If they don’t have the proper form at the time of the exam, the CME may give them a Determination Pending (DP) or 45 days to get the form completed.
